I did glue my puzzle first then used these adhesive strips on the back. It makes the puzzle very sturdy and able to hang on a wall.

I received this puzzle saver yesterday and used it to mount a 12" by 36" (panorama) puzzle. I got 2 pieces of posterboard about the same size. I slid one underneath the completed puzzle and 1 over the top. My spouse and I then flipped the puzzle over onto it's front. Despite my concern that the puzzle might fall apart, this step turned out to be effortless. So then I laid out the puzzle saver sheets on the back of the puzzle and determined that I needed 5 (of the 12) sheets to cover the back of the puzzle. Within about 15 minutes, I had all of the sheets trimmed and stuck to the back of the puzzle. Then running a rolling pin over the back ensured good adhesion to the whole puzzle. The whole process took only about 20 minutes -- the first time I ever did it. The next time, it will take less than 10 minutes now that I'm familiar with it. All in all, it is an easy job and securely sticks the puzzle together, so I give it 5 stars. However, nothing is absolutely perfect, so here are my issues / advice. 1. The instructions were pretty well written and once you do them you understand exactly what they mean. The instructions don't have any pictures of the steps, however. Adding a couple of pictures would make the very good instructions into excellent instructions. 2. The sheets have a scored 1/2 inch strip down the long side. I thought this strip needed to be removed, so I bent it back and forth so that I could tear it off. I did that on the first sheet. Then I realized that that scoring is just on the backing paper of the sheet so that you can easily peel off the backing paper -- the main part first, then the 1/2 inch strip. So don't make my mistake: that isn't a perforated edge that you have to tear off. It's just a slit in the backing paper to allow you to easily remove it. 3. I used a rolling pin on the back as the instructions recommended. I noticed that the puzzle moved around a lot on the table as I was rolling. I was afraid that I was going to damage the picture side of the puzzle by scraping it on the table top. Luckily, it didn't get damaged. I don't know how to prevent this sliding while rolling the back, yet. 4. A good design decision: the instructions are on the backing paper on each puzzle saver sheet, so you don't have to worry about losing the instructions. ... show more

The only issue with this is trying to flip the puzzle over (especially a 1000 piece puzzle) to get this on the back side of the puzzle but once it's attached, the puzzle is not going anywhere! It also works better than puzzle glue because sometimes the glue can make the pieces uneven when they dry, this has none of those issues! Highly recommend! The best part was that there was a small strip to peel off on one edge of the sticky sheet, so you could carefully place it to stick it on the back of the puzzle before pulling the rest of the backing to press down the whole sticky sheet on. The 12 sheets placed 3x4 over our puzzle were a few inches larger, so instead of trimming them down to fit, we realized overlapping would be fine and only add strength because it was on the back of the puzzle. As perfectionists that we are, the only bit of imperfection was as we were lifting it and moving it around to hang it, a few edge pieces would come loose, but we just pressed them extra and it was no problem. Also one area about 4x6 on the edge wouldn't lay flat, which i know had to do with the order of placing the sheets and pressing them down. Maybe don't do the middle ones last, but go across from one side tot the other. We solved that little curve issue when hanging it up by using that tacky putty stuff for posters- we kneaded it, stretched it thin and put it under the edge that was not quite flush on the wall then pressed it down. it's been hanging up for 2 weeks, still fine. I liked that it came with the attachable hangers that aren't so noticeable, but we used two plastic velcro 3# (overkill on the weight) Command strips that we already had, one near each side of the top, so hangers are hidden. ... show more
