I am pleased with the bed and very surprised it was easy to assemble. First, I was grateful to the delivery service for bringing the (3) large boxes into the office. He was a gentlemen and very polite. I expected two people to spend about 4 hours assembling the bed but to my surprise it took less than 2 hours for 2 people to assemble. The instructions were easy to follow and the writing was in large print making it easy to see. The screws to the handles were challenging at first until we figured out if you barely screw in the first screw then the second screw it works best. We love the look of the product but I did notice a few drops of grey paint on the inside of the wood pieces. There was also black marks on the front of the cabinet. Some of the marks washed right off but some did not. We will need to use a little touch-up paint. I have not slept on it yet to know how comfortable it is for overnight sleeping, but I'm sure it will work for our needs. I think the manufacturing company could do a better job of making sure the front cabinet doors are wrapped really good to avoid any scratches and markings. Overall I give this product a excellent review. I plan to purchase another one for another room in my office.

Re: Atlantic Furniture Nantucket Murphy Bed Chest The Amazon reviews are spot on. This is a solid piece of furniture when it fits the need. It is well built, but note you should expect a little assembly project (2 persons and a power screwdriver). I am a 70-year old male in decent shape, and did the assembly in about an hour with a handyman helper. As mentioned in the reviews, this piece comes in three corrugated containers, so you’ll have some hefty trash to ditch as well. Amazon’s deliver was just great, right to my front door. The bedding size is standard queen, however, as the mattress is only about 6" thick, the fitted sheet is a bit looser than I'd like. Hard to find fitted sheeting that is not one-size-fits-all. Still, I found it comfortable in a quick test and our first guest (female, 52 years) said it was quite comfortable throughout her stay of two weeks. As you'll see in my photos, I mainly use this bed as a working cabinet in my home-office. Wow…just the perfect size (24.5” top depth) for my printer and cutting board. Frankly, even if I didn't need the murphy bed I would buy this again just for its size/cost/functionality as office furniture... I was tempted to store the mattress in our attic and use the inside for all of my camera gear!! ;o) BONUS! I was surprised to find the bottom right side of the cabinet has two neatly integrated built-in outlets and two USB ports. Fantastic for my guests to charge her iPhone, iPad, and laptop, with an extra outlet for a night light. Brilliant add-ons that were not included in the photos or description when I purchase then unit. I also swapped the hardware with handles that matched the rest of my recently renovated room. This piece is an exceptional piece of furniture and I would ABSOLUTELY recommend it.

Where to start, this item arrived an amazing 10 days BEFORE it was scheduled! That NEVER happens. It was wonderful because we then had plenty of time to set up before the holidays. It was a tad inconvenient, as it arrived on a day that ordinarily no one would have been home, and we got no delivery calls or confirmation until they were 10 minutes away. Thankfully my husband had taken the day off, otherwise no one would have been home. Beyond that, let me say WoW! This is a well built piece of furniture. And super easy to assemble. My husband and I were able to completely assemble the entire bed in less than two hours. The instructions were clear and well written. All the parts were there with extras to boot. There was one small/narrow crack on the top lid, it looks like the wood split slightly either in shipping or it dried out a bit and cracked. The crack is small and with a bit of white paint will never be noticed. The foundation is sturdy, I am slightly over 200 pounds and I was able to lie on the bed for an hour and it held me just fine. Plus the mattress, while not something I would want to sleep on for nights on end, will work perfectly for a short company visit. The ease of set up is pretty wicked also, you can go from cabinet to bed in less than a minute, or is about 6 moves. And did I mention is it was surprisingly easy to put together! Lastly, storage, I have everything I need for an overnight guest stored in one place, Pillow and top sheet in the bottom drawer, bottom sheet folded up on the mattress, quilt and pillow in the air gap between the front of the cabinet and the mattress. Best of all, this murphy bed is in my sewing room, a 12’ x 10’ sewing room. The bed is able to pull out if I just move my chair, and when set up as a cabinet and not in use, it is the perfect place for my embroidery machine! I do not loose any usable space in my small little room. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this murphy bed. We go the twin size as a queen size was to big. I do wish they made a full size option, that would have been perfect.

Well we received it today ..... 3 boxes - not one - with no instructions. Atlantic Furniture didn't answer their phone, Amazon could not get through to them either, finally we got in touch with Atlantic Furniture and they emailed instructions to me after being on the phone for at least an hour. Husband is putting it together, and I will say that the 70 yr. old woman who said installation was easy and she did it herself, is not telling the truth. About 100 screws, dowels, etc., you have to align the dowels and screw in on the other side of the panel. So now I'm helping him. No clue on how well the thing works yet, but will update. I think Amazon charges $130 to put it together - well worth it as another reviewer said. Hardware for handles did NOT work at all. Husband spent HOURS trying to find a screw that would work - ended up jury rigging a nut on the bolt to be able to put the handles on - why the counter sunk bolt hole? Screws you sent didn't fit, no washers sent AT ALL. Why use the allen wrench instead of using screws - and if you are going to use allen wrench, send one long enough so you can actually turn the darn thing. Still don't know if it even works yet - still not all together. What a pain this has been. No felt padding, had to do it ourselves, mattress is no where 5-6 inches. I'm going to lay on it tonight and try it but not impressed. At least the drawer pulls out, what a relief. Sent a message to Atlantic Furnture - they replied asking me what I would like them to do - that's not customer service.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!! Why didn't I know about this two years ago, or more!!! This looks fabulous, converts in less than two minutes (and that is me doing it by myself, and is super comfortable!!! I have a VRBO and my guests kept causing my airbed upstairs to leak, which meant I spent about $1,000 on airbeds in two years. This is such a good investment - besides being much more comfortable than even the very top end airbeds that I was buying. It is beautiful, and the drawer on the bottom is huge, holds all of the linens so that I don't have to keep going up and down the stairs to get what I need. As I said, I just wish that I had known about it sooner! Just fabulous - if anyone has questions - write to me!!! And it was super easy to put together, there were NO problems... The biggest difficulty was getting rid of all of the packing because they were so careful to pack it so that it was not harmed in the shipping. And Tom, who delivered it, was the sweetest! Honestly - this has been a terrific experience and I love this piece. Nobody paid me to say this, but if the company would like to give me a kickback......!

Queen white Nantucket Chest bed was assembled by my daughter & I in about 3 hours. Sturdy nice quality bed. My daughter & boyfriend said it was a comfortable to sleep on. Had a problem getting the bottom drawer to close all the way. Jzekiah at AFI worked with me and resolved the problem. My husband put 3 boxes on the top panel and cracked the wood. Jzekiah came through again offering to ship a replacement top panel. This works very nicely as a guest bed in my husband's office. It looks nice, is a comfortable bed, is easy to open and allows room in the room. Very happy with this bed and the excellent customer service/manufacturer that make any issues dissappear quickly and easily.

We had an office space in our house redone that connects to a full bathroom. We thought it would be a good idea to have a bed in there as an alternative guest space since we only have 1 guest bedroom. A proper murphy bed would not fit, so I found this and we decided to order it. Putting it together took some time (approx 2.5 to 3hrs); the base comes assembled, but the chest portion itself needs to be assembled; directions are straightforward. I'll start with the good: it looks nice, the mattress is surprisingly comfortable, I was able to assemble myself (although having an extra set of hands would be helpful, it's not 100% necessary provided you're a relatively strong person), and it fits our space well and has been used a few times already. The bad... first, during assembly I found that a few pieces did not align. I can assure you that I am a VERY meticulous person when it comes to things like this, so it was not user error. One piece was half of the back panel. I was having a hard time finding out why I could not put the top piece on after I had the back panel insert. I took out the panel and discovered that it was not cut straight, so it was wider on one end than the other. I did my best to cut it down and sand it even, but I don't have a ton of tools and ultimately decided to simply not insert that half of the back panel since it is only visible when the bed is pulled anyway. With the top half of the back panel discarded, I then set about securing the top of the chest. This is done by dropping it on to two (2) wooden pegs placed in each side panel, then once flush, you secure with the provided screws. However, the screw holes of the side panel to the top would not align. I tried loosening the side panels as much as I could without having other pieces fall out (i.e. the remaining back panel), in an effort to get the holes aligned, but no luck. They were so misaligned that there was no way I could possibly get them corrected, so I ultimately took my own screws and drilled my own holes to secure the top and that worked fine. Unfortunately, I wasted probably about 45mins trying to get them aligned before deciding to do it myself (I subtracted this added time from the assembly time given above). Finally, during installation, I found a few damaged pieces, including two areas with cracks in the wood. Nothing so bad it made it structurally unsound, fortunately. I notified Atlantic of the issue and it took them over a week to respond, but they did ultimately offer to send replacement pieces. However, after all the trouble I went through to assemble this, I hardly want to unassemble and do it again. I am hoping they'll do a partial refund. I also noticed after assembly a few blemishes I missed during assembly. Again, I can assure you I didn't cause them (with the exception of 1 where my screwdriver slipped!). They are so small that I don't think anyone else will notice unless they look for them, but I know where they are so can't "unsee" them. Summary: if your space is tight and you're looking for something practical that can get a bit dinged up and you'll be OK with it, then this is a solid option. However, if you can fit a proper murphy bed and your budget allows for it, then I would go that route. I also think spending a bit more on the murphy bed will give you something that lasts longer - so bigger expense now, but it'll look nicer and you'll have it for longer.

I purchased this Murphy bed for my office/2nd guest room. Where it fits perfectly without taking over-crowding the room. The bed came in two boxes with a third box for the mattress. It arrived with no delivery problems, and was brought directly into my house and into the room where it would live. The bed arrived expertly and securely packaged up and there were no problems or damage to the parts. The only difficulty i had was that the parts were heavy and you really need two people to put it together. The directions were easy to follow and it took about 1 to 2 hours to completely get the bed set up. I bought a queen bed and my biggest concern was that the thickness of the mattress was it going to be comfortable enough and thick enough .To be safe, I also purchased a padded mattress cover in addition to the one that came with the mattress, which was probably not really necessary and I was relieved because the mattress expanded to a cushy 6 inches gel/foam which should easily accommodate 1 to 2 adults to sleep on comfortably. I am extremely happy with the quality of this bed it is easy to open and set up, and has ample storage for bedding in drawers below the mattress. I would absolutely recommend this product for anyone especially anyone needing extra sleeping solutions for small spaces.
