I ordered this costume for my daughter to wear to a 50s Sock Hop on Ice skating event. After reading other reviews, I ordered it a size larger than I would have ordinarily and that was a good thing. The top is cut smaller than the skirt; in our case, the top fit perfectly, but the skirt was a little loose, but a couple of safety pins took care of that problem. The important part is that the material is comfortable to wear, nothing itches or irritates the skin like so many costume fabrics do. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality of the product and I definitely appreciated the speed with which my order was processed. I bought the XL size. I'm glad I did - I normally wear a large. The skirt fit well around the waist, but I had hoped it would be a little longer - it came to my knees. The blouse was cute but it just barely fit - snugly. I am short waisted, and the blouse fit me ok, but be careful if you have a long torso, it might not come down to your waist. I would say that this costume is just OK. The skirt is very comfortable and the waist is extra stretchy so you have a lot of give. The skirt fabric is nice and soft...but the poodle needs some love. His eye and nose could be positioned better, but that is easy enough to do with glue. The top is what I don't really care for. This is a 2-piece outfit and the shirt is really a belly shirt...hitting around the belly button. Now, the skirt sits up higher so this kind of works. The pink is pinker than shows in the photo and is made of velvet. Personally, I don't care for pink velvet so I'm going to have to return this item. I bought this for my 12 year old daughter. I read reviews about sizing problems so I bought a woman's large for her and it fit with some extra room, waist was a bit big in skirt, but we were able to stitch it and make it smaller. She normally wears a child's 12/14, so judge for yourself. A woman's medium probably would have been perfect for her, but she was VERY happy. I especially liked the price. This is great for the price! The skirt is a little shorter than you might remember from the 50's...they went almost to the ankle. But my 17 yr. old daughter wore this to a dance and got lots of compliments. The top DOES run small...I ordered one size larger because I read that in other reveiws and it was still tight, and clingy...but she could still wear it. For a complete set with the accessories this is a good bargain...if you are looking for top notch, theather type quality you might want something more expensive...but this isn't super cheap looking either. ... show more

The skirt fit me just as it should, maybe a touch big, but not so much that I would even need to bother with a needle and thread. The top was an entirely different story. It was too tight, and way too short. If the shirt fit correctly, the skirt would have been at least two sizes too big. It was like they put a medium skirt with an extra-small top. On top of the size being entirely off on the shirt, there was a spot on the front where it appeared to have a hole that someone stitched up. It wasn't even stitched-up well. Do not buy this product! It is miss sized, and the supposedly "new item" comes with a hole someone stitched up very noticeably. ... show more

Based on the previous review, I ordered a size larger than I would have otherwise. The review was correct, the top does run small, but ordering up helped that. The arm holes are just slight bit tight, but wearable. The quality is average or maybe a bit better than average for a costume. I was also happy with the length of the skirt. In the picture it comes above the girl's knee, but on me it just covered my knee and I'm 5'8". The top is a fuzzy velour type material and the skirt is felt. It arrived quickly. I gave this 4 stars based on the sizing being a bit off, and the arm holes could be bigger. ... show more
