I've been a mail carrier for 6 years. I walk about 10-15 miles a day sometimes more. I have tried countless different kinds of shoe trying to find something that can withstand the rigors of this job. This is that shoe. Most shoes start to come apart at the toe or the heel pretty early. Most shoes won't last 3 months through the kind of abuse we put them through. These shoes do. They are lightweight, breathable, and durable. They are also surprisingly good at keeping water out given that a large portion of the shoe is mesh. I spray them down with some silocone waterproof spray about once a month and while water can still get in if theres a ton of it, theyre pretty damn good at keeping my feet dry. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing what shoe I am going to use for the rest of my career. Not to mention the price point which is exceptional. I don't write reviews for most products I buy but I felt like I really needed to let people know that this shoe gets the job done. Addidas, you have a customer for life as long as you produce this shoe. Bravo. Also, a word of advice for anyone who walks a ton or is using these shoes for work. Buy two pairs and wear them on alternate days. An old mail carrier gave me that advice and it absolutely work. Your shoes will last twice as long. One pair worn every day through very heavy use in various weather conditions might last you 3 months but two pair worn on alternate days will last you a full year. I don't pretend to understand it but something about letting the shoes rest for a day extends their life. ... show more

got these for upcoming trip to ireland rain forecast for everyday. i have the ladies version of this shoe and they have been awesome. i wear L 8.5. i ordered the mens 7. I quite often buy mens athletic shoes they tend to last longer and fit better, Tried them on with a thin no show sock and they fit well. im worried that my wool blend sock may fit snug. I dont have wide feet cant wear a ladies wide . I have not tested to see if they are waterproof. will write more later SO ended up returning for half size larger ... show more

I bought 3 pairs of trail running/walking shoes to use as work shoes on my small urban farm. I prefer trail running sneakers for this type of work because they tend to be more breathable, lighter, and easier to slip on/off than work boots. I work 12-14 hrs a day, on my feet 90% of the time, so a light weight shoe is a huge benefit. I don’t use tractors or other motorized equipment on the farm so I’m not particularly worried about buying a shoe to protect my feet from serious injury, making heavy boots overkill most of the time. The 3 shoes I bought were these ASICS Frequent Trail Running shoes, Columbia Fairbanks Low Sneaker, and these Adidas Terrex Ax3. I bought all in size 10.5, which is my normal sneaker size, and I tend to wear size 10 in hiking/work boots. I’ve bought 2 types of Adidas Terrex sneakers in the past - the CC Voyager in size 10.5, which was my absolute favorite shoe (but the most minimal), and the Tracerocker Trail Running shoe, which fit tight in the toe box area to the point where I probably should have returned them to get a size 11. After a week of daily use on the farm, here is how these Ax3 trail running shoes compare to the above mentioned shoes. Much more rugged than the ASICS or Tracerockers, the least breathable compared to all the other shoes, good heavy duty tread, and the best cushioning between the heal and ankle. The toe box is almost too tight, but not nearly as much as the Tracerockers (but my toes really splay out so this might not be a concern for others). Also the poor breathability was kinda a bummer but it’s a bit of a trade off since these are the most “substantial” of all the shoes, making these a great choice for rugged trail hiking, or in my case, work on the farm. They don’t seem to have good arch support, but the sole is thick rubber, making them a good choice for when I’m doing construction and walking around nails/screws. Also there is extra protection around the outside footbed and a decent toecap - while not a composite or steel toe, this heavy rubber outer layer gives an extra bit of safety and I wouldn’t be too worried about dropping a moderately heavy object on my toes while wearing these shoes (think a log/concrete block/wooden post, etc). All in all I’m very happy with these shoes, I just need to swap them out for another pair half way through the day to let my feet breath a bit. ... show more

I hike in these regularly and jog in the park on uneven terrain. These shoes get the job done. Will likely buy another pair once I beat these up. But so far they are holding up nicely.
