In terms of quality, build, materials, and comfort, these shoes are a 2 (maybe 2.5?). However, they ARE a solid 4.5 in terms of style. They are so fashionable that their shortcomings aren’t evident when you see them worn—they look great with shorts, jeans, chinos, and ABC pants. The resurgence in nylon sneaks harkens back to styles from the early 80s, but make no mistake, these are NOT Tiger Ultimate 81s (and they’re about 1/3 the cost).
