These are solidly built - there were some areas that I really had to pound with a sledgehammer to get them deep into the ground and not a single one broke, and only had one spline bend and that was when I tried to hammer it into the cement around a fence post. I thought the black paint looked better than plain galvanized, the the double horizontal rails did a better job at keeping critters out and probably helped with the stability. I read several reviews that mentioned welds breaking when hammering on them. I used a regular hammer and they did just fine. I recommend installing them directly after it rains. Maybe that’s why mine did so good.
