  • Nicely curved but Expensive, Buggy and doesn't use all it's features
This is for the "Acer XZ322QU Pbmiiphx 31.5" WQHD 165Hz" monitor. I purchased this in Dec 2020, probably from another vendor since I don't see the purchase listed in my account. I recall however, that I got a smokin' deal around $300 - which is probably why the vendor change. From the first week I had a small, but nagging issue - about 80% of the times I would "wake" my computer from sleep the monitor wouldn't wake up. I've had to hold the power toggle till the red light went out, wait 5 seconds or so, press it again so it would restart and THEN it would pick up where it left off when it was last on. I've never been able to run it with Freesync engaged. I have a Radeon RX 580. I really like the curve. It matches up perfectly with my 32" Samsung S32D850 on one side and Dell's S3219D on the other. For the most part I prefer either of the others. But they don't curve. What the curve does is allow my POV to be much closer. Also this monitor is (was) the ONLY one which matches up perfectly with the others in height. I learned the hard way not all 1440 horizonal lines are the same. I tried a VERY nice curved monitor that was slightly wider but.. it was also 2-3" shorter than my other 32" screens. Did not match up at all. I found it took a LOT of fiddling to get it to look as good as either of the others did (do) fresh out of the box. Final verdict: Would I purchase again?: NO! One daily PITA screen is enough! Do I recommend it?" again.. NO. unless of course, you don't mind fiddling with it (for a looong time) to get it to look right, NOT having it use the "freesync" feature, and having to reboot it most of the time when starting up your PC or bringing it out of sleep. BTW.. what prompted this review was the 6 hours of work loss while trying to get this thing to come out of sleep again. No matter what I did, how many times - turn off/on, unplug everything, reboot pc, update OS and Video card drivers etc. I finally got it working again by unplugging another monitor, setting the one left on to "Duplicate screens", plugging the other back in, and changing to "extend desktop". I *hope* I will NOT be having to do this every single day - multiple times - in the future. If so, I'll stick with it until it completely dies because another $400-$500 dollars just for a monitor - especially one that is just so-so (except for the curve) is a bit outrageous. ... show more

  • This monitor will make you scream; buggy and unsupported.
For clarification, I bought this monitor new at Micro Center but I really wanted to place a review where someone might see it and reconsider. To be clear, the monitor and everything it promises works. This is indeed a WQHD (1440p)165Hz display with Free-Sync and HDR; but this monitor is buggy and unsupported as said in the title. To put it without getting technical, this is the kind of device that you'll make ways to making it work that only you know, like that car radio that only works if you slap the dash in the right spot. For those who are technical, the HDR has been impossible for me to get calibrated correctly, if you connect your speakers to your monitor be prepared to disconnect and reconnect your DisplayPort/HDMI cable every time you wake up your computer (If your monitor even wakes up to begin with, I've had to force restart my computer before) and if you use Linux, this monitor has a personal vendetta against your BIOS and in extension GRUB. I could not get this monitor working with older hardware and even with UEFI the only way to get to it is by waking the monitor before you turn on the computer so that it has time to pick up the signal before turning itself off, which I think is the biggest issue. This monitor struggles with being TOO power efficient. This monitor WILL enter sleep mode ANY time the signal is dropped, even if it's just the computer BIOS handing off to the OS or bootloader. This can cause issues as sometimes said OS's or bootloaders will not recognize anything plugged in at all causing audio cut out or inaccessibility to the boot menu. To put it simply, it's a good looking display with bugs, but if you are buying for or are someone not doing anything super techie it's fine. For someone who doesn't use Linux and doesn't use multiple connections in, you can always just plug your audio straight to your computer or console and as long as you aren't using any other OS's it should work with no issues at all except maybe getting HDR working good, but that could just be me and I have had games that self-calibrate and look better with HDR. ... show more

  • The quality of delivery is terrible when it comes to fragile stuff like this.
I'm not going to lie, I love this monitor, but this will be the second time I had to return it. The first one I had displayed dead pixels and was returned with the same box it came in when I ordered it, which was a little fishy. And now it's now displaying different colors and has a long horizontal line going across that won't disappear. I am starting to assume it was the same exact monitor from before but it's like someone tried to fix it but made it worse ... show more
