  • Great monitor but I had to return
I was trying to find a productivity + gaming + multimedia all-in-one solution, and this monitor fits the bill perfectly. + Very large at 38 inch diagonally. It really fills your entire field of vision and has amazing visual impact + 1600P is a step up from 1440P. Typical 21:9 ultrawides only have 1440P and it's really limiting. This one you can fit more vertically - good for browsing and productivity. HOWEVER pixel density is about the same as 34inch 1440P, so y ou are not getting sharper texts, just larger texts with same sharpness as a 34inch 3440x1440 monitor + USB-C one-cable solution for charging and video output from Mac and Windows. This was crucial for me and still not that common in 2024. By "that common" I mean like 90-100% of modern monitors should have it, but reality is about 40%. + Great image quality - for what it is, being IPS and Acer. + High refresh rate - very buttery smooth. Even just browsing and typing feel better. + Very loud speakers (decent quality, but definitely got volume) I played a couple games on it and the result was amazing. Same as movies that are in 21:9, there's no black bars then and it looks really awesome. Even backlight even in dark/black scenes. Also looked at some spreadsheets and wrote a couple documents, no problem. Workflow feels super fluid thanks to high refresh rate. However, in the end, decided to return based on below factors: - Feels cheap. This feels like a $300 monitor, not $800. Just the plastic, the thick and bulky look, the feel of the buttons.... etc everything just feels so cheap. - See last photo I posted - the plastic around the button are all rubbed out. I bought this brand new and it came out looking used. - Cumbersome stand that pushes the monitor far out front. I have 55x28 desk, and this monitor makes my desk feel very shallow. A monitor arm is recommended, but then you are looking at another $200 for a robust enough arm to support this monitor's weight. - Type-C port inconsistencies... For example, when plugged into my Legion 5 Pro's rear C port (there's 1 C port on left side and 1 C port on rear), the monitor would make audible high pitched electric noise, but is dead silent when plugged into the side C port, as well as my MacBook. - Low pixel density. Bottomline is, for $800 you are getting very low pixel density, same old IPS technology with nothing special. Though this configuration is rare, it's not especially amazing. It's not sleek slim edgeless, it's not Quantum QD IPS like the MSI Optix, and definitely does not compare to QD OLEDs. And 34-inch 4K QD OLEDs are under $1000, 240hz and has USB C. So it's really difficult to justify this at $800. IMO either get a $200-300 4K monitor or go for the $1000 4k QD OLEDs for monitor. Or just get budget monitor and get a 65-inch WOLED like LG C3 or Sony A78Ls when on sale. Would be much better than this $800 stuck in the middle of the line thing. ... show more

  • Gorgeous display, Great Features
FOLLOWUP: About 2 months in. I find myself playing more and more using this monitor compared to my old dual 32" VA display. Great to look at, and any game that does 21:9 looks simply gorgeous. Performance is top notch. If I have any complaint, it is the fact my eyes are burning due to how bright it is...but, it does heat my office quite nicely. Note: Not hardware heat...but, the fact the screen is so bright that it has a warming effect on my face (LOL)! I will not be able to go back to 1440p either. The visual quality and pixel speed is just the best. I cannot stop adoring this monitor...and hopefully the popularity will continue to help drive prices down! _____________________________________ PREVIOUS REVIEW I was leery about writing a review so soon...but, the quality of the monitor has me geeked. Coming from 2x 32" VA panels, I was not sure how I would feel with IPS. As well, what would it be like losing that extra screen (deep blacks on IPS would be another concern). But, I was wrong... For one, I now have the desk space to bring my laptop onto the desk. As well, with the built in KVM feature, I can swap between my PC and Laptop and use the same devices (key / mouse) on the same screen. Visually, after a bit of tweaking, this screen is so bright...and the blacks are great too. I turned on overdrive, and am running 165hz, which runs my games at top speed using my RTX3080. Again, I worried about an early review, but also about how I would feel after time had passed on an IPS display. But, the last few days have been truly mind blowing...and the quality of this screen is worth the price. ... show more

  • Really great monitor!
Size: 34-inch UWQHD
I love this monitor. It's really bright, the colors pop and the refresh rate makes high FPS gaming really smooth. I have a Radeon 6900 XT and the Freesync Premium works a lot better than plain old Freesync on my prior monitor. And I got a really good one; no dead or stuck pixels, minimal back light bleed. BUT... The monitor did not have any kind of protective film over the screen and it's got some scratch/scuff marks and other odd marks on the screen. I Can't see them when I am gaming unless I get an all black screen or if I am looking for them, but I know they are there, and they are driving me crazy. I don't know if all of these models come without a protective film, or if I got a funky one, but I am docking a star for it. ... show more
