  • Stunning, prefer it over my 4k monitor
Size: 27 in Style: 240Hz, sub 1ms, FHD (1920x1080) Pattern Name: Monitor
These new 2nd generation 240hz TN panels are amazing. This is nothing like older TN technology. Colors are accurate and look nice without appearing a bit too oversaturated, a problem i have with other monitor panel types, which in games to me personally causes them to look overly bright and cartoony. Colors here appear more natural. Using a properly calibrated color accurate ICC profile looks superb, and you wouldnt really think it was a TN panel if you are only familiar with older TN monitors. Framerate > Resolution Even just using windows and browsing the internet, I prefer to use this monitor over my larger 4K monitor, even though the workspace at 4K is much larger and better than at 1080p, simply because the smoothness and low input delay that 240hz offers, you will never want to go back to 60hz even just navigating Windows. And these newer 2nd gen TN panels have great pixel response times so that there is no ghosting even at max 240hz refresh rate, a problem all older TN panels and other panel types have suffered from at very high framerates. TN technology has been perfected here. Overdrive on normal looks great and artifacts arent noticeable at all during use. I vastly prefer 1080p high refresh rate over 4K 60 fps in most games. The high framerate and motion clarity are more immersive to me than the prettier sharper pixels at higher framerates. Ideally you would want both, but if I had to choose i would choose framerate > resolution anyday. At high framerates games feel more real and videos interpolated to higher fps (using software like SVP) are extremely pleasing to the eye, not to mention the lowered input lag that comes with running higher framerates which makes aiming with a mouse feel more instant and satisfying. Size I thought 27 inches at 1080p might be too large for the pixel count, but I ended up happy that I didn't buy the 24inch version of this monitor (XF252Q). Some may prefer the increased pixel density of the smaller version, but I like larger monitors for gaming, and i found the trade-off of larger pixels for that to be worth it. It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might, objects in the distance still look nice with good AA techniques and I get a larger screen, with games running higher framerates thanks to the lower resolution. Highly recommend ... show more

  • Great monitor so far
I'm writing this after only a few days of owning this monitor (5/18/2020) and so far it's fantastic. Main reason I bought this was bc I wanted better refresh and resolution, and all the other specs were enticing as well. There were some settings I screwed up on my own with my xbox one x, but after fixing it I can finally play games @ 1440p @ 120hz. Xbox won't go up to 144hz so I can't blame Acer for that lol If anyone is having similar issues with getting your xbox one x up to those settings: 1. On the monitor, "hdmi 2" is the high speed 2.0 port, not "hdmi 1" which is a 1.4 port 2. In your xbox settings > general > tv & display options > resolution should be at 1440p > refresh rate should be at 120hz 3. If 1440p or 120hz aren't options, click on "video modes" on the right side and make sure "allow variable refresh rate" and "allow ycc 4:2:2" are both checked. 4. If you can't do anything of these things, then either your xbox isn't capable of them (old model) or you were sent the wrong monitor. 5. Just an extra tip to help you along the way... on the monitor OSD settings, navigate down to "OSD" underneath picture, color, audio, and gaming and turn on "refresh rate num" which will display the refresh rate in large yellow print on the top right. This will confirm what refresh rate you are at while messing with settings. Also, I am unable to turn on my 24hz and 50hz options, but I don't really care. And I never messed around with any TV calibration or any of those other options. I'll do my best to update this if anything changes. It will remain to be seen if this is actually compatible with the new xbox series coming later this year... ... show more

  • one of the better 240hz monitors on the market right now for the price
Coming from a benq xl2411z 144hz monitor this thing is noticeably a lot smoother. The main reason I got this monitor is because its one of the first ones to use the 2nd generation 240hz panel at a reasonable price, and from my experience the faster response time from the new panel is definitely worth it. I've tried the alienware 240hz before this which uses the older panel and it was a good monitor but it had noticeable ghosting which I couldn't live with. The colors from this are pretty meh but I haven't really spent that much time tuning it but the reason you buy this monitor is for the performance not the picture quality. The monitor can also strobe up to 240hz which they don't even advertise but its a pretty handy feature that most of the older 240hz monitors can't do besides the benq xl2546. I have 2 negatives so far with this monitor and is the reason I took a star off, one being the sharpness option in the OSD is kinda trash imo because it makes weird extra lines around certain images which get annoying, and the only option is on or off which you kinda have to turn it on otherwise the image is a bit blurry. On my benq you have a wider adjustment level for sharpness which I miss. My 2nd gripe I have with this monitor is my vesa monitor arm does not work with this because it doesn't fit in the square cutout in the back of the monitor so i'm forced to use the stand it comes with. All in all I would say this monitor is worth it over all the previous generation 240hz monitors especially for the price, except maybe the benq xl2546 since that one has a superior backlight strobing feature. ... show more
