I bought this Chromebook to replace a Lenovo version I'd had for around 5 years which wouldn't boot up. A backlit keyboard is a must for me and I wanted at least as much memory and an Intel processor, so this Acer Chromebook Plus checked the boxes. The "order within xx minutes" clock was ticking down to under 30 minutes for next day delivery so that helped me decide quickly. I did find the same device elsewhere, but not with next day delivery, and I thought the Amazon price was reasonable. My machine did arrive the next day and we live in a rural area so I think that is impressive. I am happy with this Chromebook. I usually have several tabs open and it handles that fine (I just counted and there are 21 tabs open right now.) The screen is bright, the touchpad is exceptionally smooth and the keyboard is fine. Another positive thing I noticed is how much better this machine receives the WiFi signal as compared with my old Chromebook. Where I had a weak signal previously, it's now strong when I am in the identical spot in our home. There was mention made in the description on Amazon that the seal might be broken due to an upgrade by the seller, but there was a seal in place when mine arrived and it seems to be a brand-new machine. I checked the specs and they are as shown on the Amazon description. I am happy with this Chromebook Plus so far. If it holds up as well as the last one, I will be ecstatic. I previously had an Acer Chromebook which never stopped working but did stop getting updates so I retired it. I also have an Acer PC which has been fine so far, so I'm optimistic. ... show more

This Acer Chromebook is very nice. Easy set up. I am using it for simple tasks - email, networking on Linked In. The charge lasts a very long time and the connectivity is excellent. I recommend this as a very good laptop option.

Chromium or Chrome OS takes some getting used to. I have a business and a personal profile on it, which I could see being confusing for a non-IT person. No high horse here, but if you log on as UserA@gmail that's where your files go, under that profile so if you log on as UserB@gmail (or whatever @domain) that file heirarchy will be under a different secure location. It's not unlike Mac and Windows but the ease of using @gmail.com to set it up initially can be distracting. The good. Quick. It's so quick. The Very Good (for business). From what I understand, in the e-commerce world of PCI DSS, ingesting credit card information commands some pretty stringent guidelines that not everyone is going to know/want how to do. With Chromium and Chrome browser at play, from what I read, you can have it on an isolated network e.g. Guest on most decent routers and a dedicated printer or you can run an old school USB cable and you just reduced your compliance checklist from 15pages to about two. It's not just about avoiding red tape, it's correct. There are a lot of bad actors out there. ... show more

Acer Chromebook plus 514 is nice and fast.Touchscreen and back lit keyboard is perfect.Can't say that for the speakers.Very tinny.Otherwise it's perfect so far.I don't listen to music on it so I'll keep it.Replaces a 3 year old HP that was coming apart at the hinges but that one sounded better.
