    • Higher end laptop for mid-level price
I've been building as well as buying gaming desktops and laptops for 25 years . The specs on this system make it a good choice for those with $12-1300 to spend. It runs GPU & CPU, RAM & SSD intensive games and 3D rendering apps well, I don't get much time from the battery & it's a bit heavy but I don't plan on using this device portably except to move from place to place. I troubleshoot & fix other's systems & the weight isn't too bad even with the AC adapter. The screen is beautiful, the fans cool the machine well while overclocking the GPU. Acer ships this with software controls that change fan speed, GPU, even color scheme of the lighted keyboard. There's a turbo button to overclock the CPU so far I haven't burned it in yet but I've no doubt it'll be fast enough. This ships with both a SSD and HDD, it's upgradeable to 64gb RAM, I just purchased a Wi-Fi 6 Router which has increased my Wi-Fi 30%. The Predator comes with a lot of bloatware ( so far my biggest issue) it comes with a month if Norton security ultra and Express VPN ( I use Avast & Nord VPN) but they're good apps. I like the aluminum body, the only other notebook system I've owned without a plastic body is my MacBook Pro which I use for other reasons. I'd recommend buying this over the Dell Alienware and Asus Tuf gaming laptops. I've been shopping for one I liked since 2021 & the Acer Predator was always in the top 3-5. If I were purchasing it again, I'd add the maximum DDR5 Ram & possibly the 12th Gen i9 chip even though it would cost me $1000 more, the difference would be really shown 5-7 years down the line when I'd need to upgrade certain hardware. I expect to get at least 5 years possibly 10 from this system, I'm 57 & hope the next gaming platform is something built by me. If there's a site to download the Acer Predator apps which control the keyboard, fans, turbo boost etc, I'd like to install a streamlined version of Windows made by gamers. The biggest con is the ton of unnecessary things such as office, one drive, a few other things nothing major. I would have preferred 2 SSD storage devices but that can be changed when I double the ram. For now this is the best $1150 I've spent in awhile. I bought this Chromebook to replace an old HP Chromebook that had developed a slightly wonky track pad. My old one was a 14-inch and I do appreciate the extra 1.5-inches on the Acer. I've owned a couple Acer Chromebooks in the past -- really cheap models -- and I was unimpressed with the build quality. This 315 model seems much nicer in pretty much every regard. First off, I like the keyboard. The keys are all slightly indented, which helps center your fingertips on the keys. The amount of travel of the keys is about what you usually see in keyboards of this type. Also, they're resistant enough to prevent most accidental key presses. I wish the keyboard were back-lit, since I frequently work in dim lighting and can never find the number keys. The screen resolution is good, but not as bright as I would prefer. But for the money, it's good enough and better than a lot of laptops I've owned over the years. It's definitely bright enough for general use, writing, spreadsheets, etc. My previous Chromebook was a touchscreen and this isn't, which is just fine by me. I was never crazy about the touchscreen thing on my old laptop; seems I was always accidentally tapping on something that didn't need tapping. If I wanna work with my thumbs, I'll use my iPhone. The overall build quality seems (so far) to be quite good. The hinge feels tight and secure, the keys are all solid-feeling and well seated and the materials feel rigid and reasonably "luxe," particularly for this price point. If you're new to the Chrome OS, you're in for a treat. I've used Macs and Windows for years and after using Chrome on a "native" machine, I would never want to go back. It's just SO much faster and easier, at least for the sort of work I do. Everything seems as seamless as a Macbook, and the cloud backup stuff is great, since I typically have a different laptop (all Chromebooks, now) at my home, my cottage and in my "on the road" bags. No matter where I am, I can just pick up the nearest laptop and voila! there's all my work just as I left it in an earlier location. Also, I love that the Chrome OS boots up in seconds, is constantly updating for virus protection and feature improvements, and contains virtually NO "bloatware" (I'm looking at you, Windows). Last word: For the money, this is an excellent laptop. If you're a student, senior or just need a computer for anything other than CPU intensive stuff like video or audio production, this one will probably work for you. ... show more

Wish I can give 1 star review. bought this laptop on sep 22, 2024. from the first month of purchase the charging was not good, I thought it is becoz this one is a gaming laptop. after 2 months the screen flickering issue was horrific. I contacted amazon they said the return window is closed. I even stated this is branded as "NEW" In the amazon page, but I was sold with a used device, they stated that they cannot help me . like wtf? I contacted manufacturer Acer for warranty claim, they replied me with "this is a modified product, our warranty cannot be applicable here" but the seller mentioned 1 year of manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer then I contacted the seller, the seller said they updated the ram with reputed company parts, this is a hardware issue that they will repair and i need to ship the laptop what will i do with a faulty machine even after repair? both amazon and seller refused providing a refund, never buy from this seller! ... show more

    • Best gamer Laptop ive ever owned
This Acer I've had for over a year now and I have had no issues at all so far. This may not be top of the line but its very Fast for gaming with a 3070TI NVidia and amd processor. Last laptop I had I was getting tons of blue screen of death crashes, but not with this acer. My only criticism would be I wish it came with at least a 4tb hard drive which is upgradable but pricey for me. Overall I think personally acer makes a great laptop and i am so far 100% satisfied with this purchase. Nothing will go wrong with a 3070ti it works like a 4070 or even better in my opinion. ... show more

It was DOA, but not blaming the seller. It was a beautiful laptop. But it had no power response at all. Not even the light that shows it is plugged into a power source. The AC Adaptor tested good. Having repaired desktops/laptop for 15 years normally this is due to a ram stick that was dislodged during shipment. It has happed to me when I have sent out repaired/refurbished machines. So although I had to do a return, both Amazon and the seller made it a painless process. Hence the 5 stars. ... show more
