I used these for my porch swing, and installed them “sideways”, as I didn't need any extreme swinging. The brackets are sturdy, with solid ball bearings and strong lag screws. Before my porch ceiling was installed, I had the carpenter place wood blocking between the studs, and that allowed me to center the swing perfectly with respect to the window.
