I just now completed assembling the KidKraft Chelsea Wooden Doll House for our Granddaughter. There were a few negatives, however, I still gave this doll house 4 Stars. My notes here then are to give other Dad's and Mom's (and family members) a heads up in order to assist with the assembly of this doll house. The mini Allen wrench provided along with the other hardware was not used as all of the fasteners are secured with a philips-hd screwdriver. I encountered only ONE issue; the vertical column at the LH side of the house is secured from below, no problem. However, positioning the top screw was somewhat difficult due to the limited space between the head of the screw and the adjacent doll house wall. I finally had to use a pair of pliers to rotate the head in order to tighten it properly. (BTW, there was no issue with both sets of stairs as discussed within other reviews.) All fasteners engage hardwood which was very good. The material being secured is MDF which did not become an issue. All of the pilot holes lined up with their mating components, another plus for this kit. All of the accessories were intact with the exception of the vanity table with "mirror". One of the legs was found broken off. (I will repair this part with glue.) Once assembled, this doll house has some impressive weight to it. In our case, it will rest on a table or the floor and not need to be anchored to the wall. With respect to the "furniture", the scale seems correct however, they are a bit over-sized for the scale of this doll house. Regarding the "family" for the doll house, I searched the net and found wooden family members complete with their pets. I purchased these separately and will include them as a gift when we give her the doll house. (Important: have a GOOD medium-sized philips-hd screw driver on hand before you start this kit.) ... show more

    • It's NOT easy to assemble without tools but WORTH THE WORK
It looks so so beautiful! I had to put everything together using just the tools they provided and my own strength, did it by myself, took me a good 2-3 hours because my arm started hurting, but you could feel that thanks to that, it ended up being very very sturdy. Pros: Colors are very beautiful. The images are very tasteful. Not to big, not too small, just the right size if you don't have a lot of room. My niece was 3 years old so this was perfect for her. VERY VERY sturdy, I doubt she will ever be able to break any of the walls or the roof. The assembly was smart and logical, it just took some power from me. They took the sturdiness very seriously and I am pleased with it. Cons: I wish it had a night light or a lamp that actually turns on and off. Otherwise, the first floor is a bit dark if you place it on the ground. Another con is that the stairs could be sturdier, my niece easily takes them off. The bathroom is in the hallway, right before the stairs. A very strange choice. You CAN place it elsewhere but the wall have the images of the rooms so it still looks like a bathroom. Wrong architectural decision. Would I buy again? Absolutely yes. Great product. The assembly took a lot of strength and time from me. Dolls are not included. Got this as a gift for my granddaughter’s 3rd birthday. She absolutely loves it! In her words “it’s beautiful and it’s pretty and it’s mine. I love it!” They tell me she hasn’t stopped playing with it since the party (a week ago). The little furniture it comes with is adorable. It wasn’t hard to assemble. I did it myself on the morning of the party. Great choice! The one very small flaw is that the stairs don’t fit exactly with the house. It’s a small and non important design flaw.     • Solid, built better then my house!
I took some time constructing this. Following the instructions was straight forward. In order to get some pieces to fit I had to loosen some previous screws. But everything fit perfectly including the stairs. There were some screws missing but I had other wood screws which I used. On finish I tightened all the screws and the Doll house is lovely. This is a nice doll house and I like that it came with furniture but I feel the listing made it seem the dolls were going to come with so I was disappointed about that. So far it has held up well
