Terrible to see an iconic brand like Jansport produce such a inferior product. I used these babies back in the day. Now having kids myself, it was my turn to purchase the school supplies. I of course threw a Jansport backpack in - even though it was the most expensive options. Needless to say, the Jansport was the cheapest most poorly made, one of the 4 I purchased. But, HOMER'S LIKE ME WILL CONTINUE TO BUY THEM. My daughter liked this one and it had some nice qualities. Pros - double stitched at the shoulder straps and the main pack, nice padded wider shoulder straps, larger water bottle pocket, nice larger front pockets. Cons - zipper action not so smooth, front pocket only has a few interior pockets, not lined interior, single fabric bottom, the larger side pocket net material for the water bottle seems cheap. She is totally happy with her bag and it really has kept her school items more organized. The fabric seems really durable and should last throughout the school year even with everyday use. The backpack is a great size for traveling as well as a college backpack. It isn't too bulky so it doesn't take up a lot of space, but still has room for everything I need. The durability is a lot better than this one backpack I bought from target that lasted me less than a year.

When we first received the backpack, while it was in package, we thought it was going to be small. When we opened it up, it doubled it's size. I've gotten to where I don't like carrying a purse or tote bag because I need the weight distributed evenly on my shoulders. So I went back to a backpack, and this one is great. Not perfect, but close to it. What spurred me to write a review was that this morning, I had to dash from my car to my office in some light rain, and it wasn't really practical to open the umbrella for such a short distance. I just KNEW my stuff was gonna be wet when I got indoors. Nope! This water-resistant bag is ACTUALLY WATER-RESISTANT! Aside from that amazing truth, this bag is more durable than I thought it would be. I carry a lot of crap (EDC, get home bag, 48-hour survival, whatever you want to call it), and it all fits with space to spare. The stitching on the straps is starting to pull a little after a month of daily use, but it's nothing major. ... show more
