Description

A1CNow+ monitor with 10 test strips for measuring percent of glycated hemoglobin (%A1C) levels in capillary (fingerstick) or venous whole blood samples. Accuracy Information: The test results from a lab vs the A1CNow system were designed to be as accurate as sending a sample to a lab. However, test results will rarely match exactly, even for repeated tests performed in the same lab. A1C results may be different due to slight differences between labs, normal variation within each test method (venous vs finger-stick), time between tests, temperature, and even humidity. A1C tests are not designed to be performed within days of another with the expectation of exact, or similar results. The percent of A1c in your blood today tells how well you've been controlling your blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. About 50% of the A1C result is from the past 30 days of blood sugar levels, about 25% is from the past 30-60 days, and about 25% is from the past 60-90 days. So what you ate or changed or the time of day differences between the days tested could result in a different test result. Notes:Lancets are purchased separately. Please read full instructions in the insert included with the product. You will receive 1 analyzer to use with the 10 test strips included. Once you have used the 10 strips, you will throw away the analyzer included in the package. Each kit will come with an analyzer that is specifically coded for the number of test strips included with it. Package includes:1 A1CNow analyzer10 test cartridges10 blood collectors

  • Indispensable Device
I have been using this A1C monitor for several months and I found it to be an invaluable tool. The testing procedure is relatively simple. It requires storing the testing kits in the refrigerator and, before using them, leaving them out at room temperature for at least an hour. The first step of the test is to collect exactly the amount of fingerprick blood to fill s small pastic vessel. Then you insert the collected blood into a tube to mix with a solution of chemicals (shaking the tube to mix them). Each test uses a disposable module that plugs into the electonic test monitor. The blood-chemical solution in the tube is then injected into the hole on the disposable module. After this, the A1C result will be displayed on the monitor in five minutes. I have done at least one test each month for the past few months. I believe the A1C results from this device are fairly accurate. I base this on comparing the A1C results with my blood-glucose test logs. I do about 3 to 5 blood glucose tests daily and the average values rise and fall fairly consistently with the A1C results I get from this device. Bayer has a website ([...]) which shows a video of how the test is used and details of lab tests on the accuracy and precision of this device. ... show more

  • Like to keep track of where I stand
I always held my breath at the doctors office when they did an A1c. Is the diabetic medicine working? Have I been good at watching my diet? Using this every couple months helps me monitor. Pretty accurate. Might be off a tad. I did a test a day before my office visit. This A1c device gives you a 3 month "outlook" on how you're doing. Mine was 6.7... Doctors was 6.8. We were both HAPPY. My doctor uses THIS SAME DEVICE, and that's why I bought it. Both Hubby and are on diabetic meds so this is handy to have and VERY EASY TO USE. Be ADVISED that this particular A1cNOW PLUS REQUIRES REFRIGERATION!!! The other A1cNOW monitor that is the NON PLUS one , DOES NOT REQUIRE REFRIGERATION. ... show more

  • Great value.
Be forewarned--you'll need to provide your own lancet or blood sample. No blood drawing equipment is included. I chose to buy it anyway and use the lancet from my blood glucose moniter. The A1c 2-pack kits usually cost around 50 dollars. This is a 10-pack, very similar system, so each test is closer to 10 dollars. The results are accurate. I used up my last 2-pack test along with one of these tests and results were the same. I check my A1c once a month as recommended by my Dr. It really helps me stay motivated to fight this disease. ... show more

  • Huge difference in reading in one week period and high failing rate
I performed a test 6 days ago showing 6.1. Checked again today and it showed 5.6. It is impossible for A1C to drop that much over a week. Also, most of the time I get the error message showing sample not Ok. I use same method to obtain blood and to do the test. It is a subpar product and it should not be sold. ... show more

  • Appears to work just fine vs the 2 packs from Walgrens
I've been using some 2 packs of these from Walgrens which were on a super super sale ($9.99 for a pack of two after an in store rebate of $10 off an an already sale price). I have never seen anything even close to that price. I had an inventory of them that ran out. This 10 pack comes with ONE single meter reader for all 10 which counts down the number of tests you have run. If you lose this meter, you are going to angry as heck because you will have no way to use the remaining tests. If the 20 test one is the same with a meter set to run 20 tests, then the risk is even higher. The 2 pack was the same. Each one with a meter which ran 2 and only 2 checks. Why the meter does that I do not understand. I have done 2 checks so far and both seem to be what I expect from fasting readings and past lab and home tests. The accuracy and ease of use of these is top notch. The seller was an Amazon marketplace seller which seemed more like some dude in his garage reselling things than a real company based on the receipt and stuff he put in the box, but they are the real deal and work fine, so what does it matter. I recommend. I would hesitate to get the 20 test kit however because of the way they make the meters limited to the exact number of tests. That seems idiotic. Don't lose your meter! ... show more

  • You won't use all 10.
The sample collector in the image is the reason you won't be able to use all of this product, 10 in this variant. If you did not bring out enough blood, not enough will go all the way up the whole sample collector. Meanwhile it will coagulate in the tube and that's it, you have to rip open another packet and try again. But you only get 10 of those in this product. In my experience I only get a successful sample half the time. But without extra sample collectors, the rest of this product is useless. So I'm only getting half the value I paid for. They need to sell a separate box of sample collectors only. The accuracy is pretty good though. Only 0.1 difference from a laboratory blood test so far. ... show more

  • Cheaper than a doctor visit
I have controlled off my condition by giving up starch and sugar, and my A1c at the last doctor visit was 5.2. It’s gonna be a whole year before I have to go back. That’s a long time between A1c tests, which should be every three months. This product is the best solution. There was a little bit of a challenge in doing this the first time around, so I did end up wasting one test. I hate that. But there are eight more, and that should last me 24 months. 30 months if you count two doctor’s visits in the timespan. I kind of hate that the test is coded so that the little mechanism is going to be disposable. Seems like y’all could just sell the rest of the kit, instead of making us buy a new device when we run out. Other than that, I am really pleased. ... show more

  • Reasonably accurate
This kit seems reasonably accurate, within 0.2 of a lab draw taken within 3 days. Good enough for a check every few months. Simple and quick to use.
