  • Throughly Enjoyable
An insightful, witty and throughly enjoyable read. Much more than just a collection of our celebrity crushes this book examines our culture and who we elevate to pop icon status. A great holiday gift and don’t forget to buy an extra copy for yourself.

  • Charming, funny, and informative!
A Field Guide to Internet Boyfriends is a witty, quick, lighthearted read featuring all those male, and some female, celebrities who seem to grace the top of all the crush-worthy lists at the moment. The writing is sharp and humorous. And the novel is a well thought out collection of facts and trivia of all those we love to love, and sometimes even hate. Overall, I found A Field Guide to Internet Boyfriends to be an easy, comical, interesting compilation by Zuckerman that’s the perfect holiday treat for anyone on your list who loves pop culture. ... show more

  • Whose your internet crush?
Thank you to Running Press for the ARC to read and review. This little hardback will make a cute gift for tweens, teens, and millennials ( and maybe even us older ladies). Esther Zukerman has compiled mini-biographies of some of todays celebrity crushes. Making the cut are among many, Idris Elba, Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, Jason Momoa, and Harry Styles. Also included are 5 lady internet girlfriends. There is even a quiz to take to match you up with which internet boyfriend is right for you. ... show more

  • Not for me, I guess.
Wow. This was an incredibly embarrassing read. I couldn’t even get past the introduction. Not sure if it was the failed attempts to be funny or the fact that an adult made an entire book about a topic that 17 year olds post about on twitter. If you want to learn about teen slang or pop culture that’s hyped by the internet, ask your nieces or grandchildren. As a Gen-Zer I got second-hand embarrassment reading from a millennial trying to explain things that were largely created by a later generation. My brain kept asking me after every sentence “who cares?” But if you do, I don’t recommend reading about it in this book. Unless you want to, then go for it I guess, but I thought it was really lame. ... show more

  • completely charming and comical diversion
A FIELD GUIDE TO INTERNET BOYFRIENDS is an absolutely delightful diversion. Reading this book is like talking to your funniest, most charming friend. I spent a lot of time giggling, and I have to hand it to the author, most of the people I could think of as celebrity crush-worthy have their place in the book, including Benedict Cumberbatch and Jason Momoa. The book even includes Internet Girlfriends- "An Internet Boyfriend, but a woman." This includes Janelle Monae and Cardi B. If you don't already know who you'd have a crush on, the book comes with a silly quiz at the front which can lead you to your own Internet Crush. Whether read from start to finish or by flipping around, this book was so delightful. I also really enjoyed the illustrated portraits and cute details throughout. This book is clever, witty, and oh so much fun. Highly recommend for a beach read or casual diversion. Please note that I received a review copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own. ... show more
