  • it came in the box like new
it came in the box and has a small instruction manual, works fine you press the little button on the Bluetooth receiver once it's plugged in to the genesis and the sync button on the top of the m30 had no problems syncing up, I did not notice any input lag at all worked great, you can use it as a 3 button control and if you press the select button you can use it as a 6 button, the only issue I noticed was a buzzing noise when any button is pressed during any game play or use, it is not a loud buzz and it does not effect game play it's fine but once you hear it, it's a little distracting and you can't un hear it , I still use it, but I did try it on both Sega Genesis models one & two and they both did the same buzzing. but you may not have have any issues or buzzing but this may be a very small problem and I think it's still very much worth getting, and I say get it it's Worth it. ... show more

  • Does what it's supposed to do
Works very well with minor latency. I was able to play through Aladdin with no issues. The only thing I wish this device could do is double as a USB receiver for Sega Genesis mini.

  • It does what it says it will.
I bought this and one of the 8bitdo controllers that are not Bluetooth. I knew they were not compatible, I got this to use it with a different controller. I wish this product also worked with their line of non-Bluetooth devices so I wouldn't have to swap the receiver every time I wanted to use a different controller on my old console. Don't forget to update your receiver when you get it! ... show more

  • Laggy and Drops the Signal
I purchased this along with the M30 controllers by 8bitdo. I have been a fan of 8bitdo's products since the beginning, but the quality of these two products just wasn't up to their usual standard. I am posting this review on the M30 page as well. The Retro Receiver was using firmware v. 0.21. The M30's were on firmware v. 1.10. They were being used with Analogue's Mega SG. There were no major electronics between myself and the console that could have caused interference with the signal. The controller was fully charged. I was approximately 6 feet away from the console. The bad: - One of the Receivers I purchased did not sit nicely into the socket and had to be forced in. - The controller/receiver would periodically drop the signal and I would lose all control over the game I was playing. I could visibly see that the retro receiver's status light was blinking, so I know it lost the signal. - Often, the inputs I made would cease but then catch up later on. So, my character would stop moving for about 2 seconds and then would start respond to all the commands that it had been ignoring. - I did not initially notice much in the way of general lag (when it wasn't dropping the signal), but when I gave up on the 8bitdo's and plugged in my original genesis controller, I could instantly notice a huge difference. There is an obvious ever-present delay when compared with wired controllers that make gameplay with the M30's seem sluggish. The Good: - The build quality on the M30's was phenomenal. The buttons and d-pad are perfect and the texturing on the plastic has a premium feel. Overall: The product may end up being good at some point due to firmware updates but at the time that I had them, they simply did not work properly. I bought a pair of both and both exhibited the same issues (though one was arguably less reliable). They have been returned for a refund. ... show more
