Based on the other reviews I took the plunge and so glad I did...... awesome fit, it was true to size (2X), it was plenty long and I’m 5’11. The lace was not itchy and added feminity and just the right amount of sexiness... I had TWO functions to attend with one being a Harlem Nights themed event... this dress worked It was fluid and flowed nicely..... I wore with and without body shaper- I have a gut, but the dress had enough stretch that I could just suck it in. Plus I paired it with a long BOA (scarf) that distracted from the belly area- all in all given the price/fit I’m more than pleased ... show more

This was a nice dress...IF you are comfortable with a very body hugging look. I ordered the dress for a concert, but unfortunately, didn't get it out of my mailbox until after the concert was over. It all worked out because I had already prepared to wear something else just in case. When the dress came, I did like it because it's a very pretty dress. However, I returned it for a couple of reasons: For ME, the fabric made it feel more like a sexy and elegant piece of lingerie more so than anything I would wear out in public; and the other reason was that ultimately, I would have wanted the back of the dress to be lined to the top (it's all lace in the back like it is in the front) and I would have wanted the lining of the bodice to come down just a little longer. Even with those "issues" it's still a very pretty dress and it fit nicely---not to tight, not too loosely (I ordered a 3X even though I tend to wear 14-16 on the bottom and anywhere from an 18-20 (1X) to 22-24 (2x) on top)....I just wanted to see how it would fit since some of the reviews said to "go bigger" due to the snug fit around the middle). Overall, I chose to give it 4 stars because it is a pretty dress, it fit nicely, it was a good length (I'm 5'9) and it'd be a lovely inexpensive dress to wear if you're not looking for anything too fabric heavy, if you have a semi-formal event and don't mind showing a tad bit of skin through the lace; or if you have a hot date with your significant other and want to be seductive and sexy! :-) ... show more

I LOVE this dress! It looks sort of liked like a Halloween costume when I first got it but when you put it on it's a whole different look. Very sleek and controlled for us sexy big girls. I bought the 2x first and it was slightly snug on the arms so I bought the 3x. Funny thing is I didn't want to return the 2x because I plan on loosing some weight (don't we all?) and want to BE SURE I can wear this dress again. I will admit that initially I wasn't quite sure Wharton expect when I ordered this particular dress. Most mermaids that I have bought in the past were usually of satin material so with that in mind I opt for a size up. The core part of the dress which is the mid section seems to be made of a type of spandex mix. It's comfortable and slightly form fitting, but not encasing so if you're nervous about a not so trim mid section you may want to wear a smooth body suit made for dresses. The lace is beautiful, but a little lose along the neck line. Definitely needs some alterations there. It really depend on shape of the body. Still good for the price. ... show more
