This is a nice junction hard plastic box that fits well on vinyl siding however, there is a concern that it’s not stamped anywhere being UL approved. It does come with grommets and the diagonal holes allow it to have some flexibility based on where your original light box was installed.

Newer homes often have each exterior light fixture attached to a surface mounting block to provide a flat surface in spite of the uneven lap of the siding. This siding mounting kit is made of sturdy plastic and is paintable. It is not a perfect fit for our aluminum siding, but it’s pretty close. This octagonal mounting kit is beige and includes a built-in electrical box. It would be nice if the box included vertical and horizontal screw holes in additional to the diagonally arranged screw holes. I think in many cases light fixtures include a universal light fixture mounting bracket (see image) that can be attached to this surface mount, and then the light can be attached to the mounting bracket. I have no complaints or concerns about this Octagonal Siding Mounting Kit. It will do exactly what I need and I am satisfied.

Easy way to add an external junction box on house with siding. This one-piece molded plastic mounting plate is shaped in the back to compensate for slight angle in layered siding to provide a flat surface for mounting lights, etc. Suggest using this mount as a guide to mark where to drill hole for wire run for new installations. Provides several different pre-drilled holes for mounting options and 3 knockouts to choose for best place to run wiring. Will require caulking on top for rain protection (leave bottom open for drainage).

Turns out there is not a great set of products out there for 8” aluminum siding, but I’m upgrading to vinyl siding soon, and want all the exterior stuff in place prior to the renovation. With that said, this will do the job with some extra silicone caulk. Product is nice and solid for plastic. It would be nice if the holes in the box lined up with standard fixtures screw placement (like vertical set and horizontal set) but instead this was done at an angle from orientation forcing you to use those bars you have to level. Installation was easy enough, and for holding a fixture flat to your exterior walls, it functions great. Now for my description complaints. When it says vertical siding, I figured it was a typo for vinyl or something.. unless it was referencing something like the older style vertical tongue and groove? Isn’t most siding considered horizontal? Did they mean a block for wall mounted lights? Overall confusing statements. Secondly, the product description reads like a picture of the product was shown to a A.I. and asked to describe the item. It reads as if the writer is unsure of what the item even is. As a consumer, this does not instill confidence in my purchase and I’d be more inclined to move toward a more confident product description.

If you ever tried to attach a light or electrical box to existing siding it never goes well. They don't sit flat and look very unprofessional. These blocks are great! Simply drill the mounting holes and attach your box or light. They make it look like it was done when the siding was installed. One very important thing to know is you must drill the siding. If you just try and run the screws in without predrilling the siding will most likely crack. The initial pilot hole should be the correct size for the screw I go back and drill just the siding a few sizes bigger so when it moves with temperature changes it does not crack. I also put a dab of silicone in the hole prior to installing the screws.

The siding mount base works as advertised. The plastic material is hard and feels strong but at the same time, I'm afraid it's brittle as well. Do not use too much force on it. The mounting/installation was simple and easy. No issues there.
