I steamed the basket upon arrival, like the product description recommends, and within 5 minutes, I had removed all creases, it's now perfectly round, and it stands up straight. I also aired it out by an open window for an afternoon, and it no longer off-gasses (which was not a chemically smell, or anything, just the natural jute, I assume). The handles are strong (so far), and I've used it multiple times to carry heavy loads of laundry to and from the basement laundry room at the complex where I live. As other reviews mentioned, it came super wrinkled. I’m still trying to get some of the creasing out, but I love the hamper. I use it as a laundry basket and it’s the perfect size. I know once it’s almost full. It’s time to do laundry. It looks great in my room too

Absolutely love the look of this hamper and the rope detail. But after several months of my pre teen filling it with laundry twice a week, it never wants to hold its shape and its a bit droopy. But over all a beautiful heavy duty clothes hamper.

It's sturdy enough to keep open and upright on its own, but still soft enough you can fold it and put it away. It's nice and big, fits a lot of laundry. I'm sure you could use it for comforter storage or similar purpose as well.
