4pcs Silicone Spatula Set I can verify that there is a steel core - a flat bar of magnetic material - encased in a variety of colored silicon. It is not aluminum and doesn't need to be stainless, so is most likely low-grade steel. It is probably 3-4mm thick and only slightly bendable without using excessive force. The steel bar is about as wide as the narrowest part of the handle of the spatula, maybe 8 or 9mm, and runs from near the hanging hole to about 1/2" from the rounded end. With the metal bar reinforcing the blade and making it very stiff, the blade of this spatula does not bend. The spatula blade extends further away from the central metal bar on one side than it does on the other, which allows for the wide side of the blade to be narrower. The ad calls this the 'cutter' side. The opposite side does not extend as far yet also has an edge, which can be used to scrape denser or less fluid material. Technical data is fine, but how do these spatulas spread mayonnaise? Or peanut butter? Very nicely, thank you. These spatulas are stiff and work very well. The ad copy lists their "WILD APPLICATION" (well, maybe that's a typo). About the only thing they are not good for is cleaning the last bit of (whatever) from the inside of some jars. So, they can hang up out of the way or be stored in a drawer; they are comfortable to use; they are stiff enough to stir or mix solids or semi-fluid foods; they are non-stick and easy to clean; they can be used to separate portions; and they are good at stirring while cooking and scraping the bottom of pots to prevent things from burning. They are not to be considered as a knife - the edges are not nearly sharp enough. And although the tip is flexible, most of the blade is not, so these can't be used for some tasks. I like them and use them daily. FOUR stars is all I give because there is nothing exceptional about these spatulas. They are good. They work, but that's about it. ... show more

these are perfect spread it around with flat part, use edge to lift excess and leave the perfect amount on your skin, spread what's now on spatula on diff part of back. long enough to make it easy, neat and easy to clean, effective, just perfect. If you want to keep hands clean or don't have the easiest time reaching every part of your back these are a godsend. honestly they work so well it's worth using even on skin you can easily reach (again, clean hands, and I cannot stress this enough, PERFECT application amount) one in each bathroom, one at the gym, one for travel bag... My friend had these and I had to have them. She always has neat kitchen stuff and while visiting her, I saw them in her drawer. They are sturdy and are used for everything. They are great for getting sourdough starter stirred and out of a mason jar. I can't believe I lives so long without them.
