There are no directions provided. BUT it’s all self explanatory..the film is very difficult to peel and it is on both sides of the butterfly. The adhesive strip is also small and it too has two sides. I have long nails so my daughter helped me with the peeling film and attaching the adhesive strips. I have a very rough textured plaster wall and they stick very well...I will report back if they fall off (lol). Beautiful and they are mirror like... but bc of all the peeling I had to use window cleaner on them to rid of fingerprints. Oh and you must fold the wings! ... show more

Exactly what I expected. Lightweight and easy to put up. The butterflies come covered in a plasticky film on both sides of the wings so they don't get scratched during shipping. My method to getting the film off easily was scratching on the head of the butterfly with my nail and the jagged cutout on that part made the film lift right up, if that makes sense. The only downside is I have a ceiling fan that I leave on all the time and a couple of the butterflies have fallen down, but they're easy enough to put back up and I've added extra tape on the body when I do. ... show more

I put about half of the butterflies up before I realized they all had a film on them. Once I peeled them off, I was SO impressed at how shiny they were! I have an oversized bedroom so we turned half of it into an office and the butterflies are one of the first things you see that makes the distinction between the two spaces. I love these butterflies! I had to look at them very closely because they were thin and were stuck together, which made it appear that they were not all there, but they were! There's a clear film on each side of them that you can peel off (which makes the "mirror" image appear better after peeling). I didnt realize it until I pulled them apart and saw the plastic on them. so I peeled one side, applied the 2 sided strip of tape, place it on the wall as desired and pressed them to hold for a couple seconds, then I peeled the top layer of plastic off (to avoid so many finger prints showing up on them while applying them to the wall). it was a hassle at first to remove the plastic film from each side until i found a way (used finger nail to scrap tip of wing so that i could grab the plastic to remove) and then they just came right off! Before putting the sticker tape which is a little thick to make butterflies pop. Dont forget to take off the clear plastic coat it has on both sides, i just removed them on one side beacuse it was time consuming and plus i just wanted the shine on one side. If you want the shine on both sides i recommend to remove both sides. Love the results, my doors where plain and love how they pop and make my doors beautiful. ... show more

To remove the blue protective film that is on each side of the butterfly, just take a piece of scotch tape and stick it onto the butterfly and peel. The scotch tape will remove the blue film. Do it on each side. I had to find another way to remove the blue film after struggling with it using my nails. These butterflies are so beautiful -- use it on just about anywhere.
