These "cheaters" are just the ticket for this librarian, especially when putting away books. I can peer over the lenses when needed--I am far-sighted, so reading close-up is an issue, but I also need to be able to quickly see if something is not in my far-sighted range. If that makes sense! I also use them when working at my computer, both at work, and at home. I can't say they are good for applying eye-make-up, though. Unless you want a lens smeared with mascara... These are cute, lightweight, and work great. And I get compliments all the time. (This is actually my second time ordering this particular set; I'm hard on glasses, so it was time to replenish. I just love these as I no longer find myself constantly putting them on and then taking them off. I hope I’ll be less likely to lose them due to this.It’s easy to be able to look above them for normal distance vision. I read multiple reviews about how easily they fall apart. Proactively, I spread a thin layer of clear glue across the top of the lens in the hopes it would keep the little string from separating from the lens as so many others mentioned.
