  • High-Quality Silicone Tattoo Practice Skin
These 6 pieces of high-quality 3mm soft silicone tattoo practice skins are excellent for both novice and experienced tattoo artists. Each skin is individually packaged and 0.12 inches thick, allowing for double-sided use. The larger size of 12 inches by 8 inches provides ample space for detailed and extensive practice, making it ideal for creating masterpiece designs. The skin closely mimics human skin, effectively aiding in the improvement of tattooing techniques. To avoid ink problems, it's recommended to cover the fake skin in Vaseline before tattooing, dab with a paper towel to clean ink, and use cooking oil and soap for any remaining ink. Overall, this practice skin is a valuable tool for refining tattoo skills. ... show more

  • Not sure about this stuff yet
I like the thickness, and the size, but it's hard to get clean lines, since I seem to have to run over the same lines multiple times achieve what I want in the tattoo. I hope this is user error, but time and more practice will tell. I may update this later if I can find a technique that works better. ... show more

  • Great Practice tool for beginners
So at this point, I'm just dabbling. I am in no way a tattoo artist nor do I have any plans to become one. I initially just got the tattoo gun and ink to play around, but the more I get into it, the more fun it seems. These practice skins are a GREAT way to start the process of learning depth and shading. The mat has the give, smoothness, and stretch of real skin, and it's visibly cracked if you get to a point of "overworking" were it real skin. The mat holds ink very well when the appropriate depth and force are applied and doesn't hold hardly anything if your needles are too shallow. It's very good at showing the varying darknesses of ink profusion at different depths/pressure as well. It's a wonderful teaching tool to gain the muscle memory necessary to hit that perfect 1.5-2mm depth consistently (Obviously, I'm not there yet) before you move on to 2mm skins for more detailed training on shading. The best part about this pack is that it comes with 6 large practice skins that are thick enough that both sides can be used (a great deal at ~$5 each). The only thing I don't really like is that when you're inking, wiping away the excess leaves very dark ink stains. But you can go in with a magic eraser and some rubbing alcohol and remove most of the stain fairly easily to see where you really are when trying shading. But overall, this is an absolutely perfect kit for someone just getting into the art of inkwork. ... show more

  • Thin
These mats are terrible. Super thin and it's like the needle is cutting through when you make a pass on a line. Definitely not my recommendation for practice.

  • Thick and uniform, nice quality and free of defects.
Many people in my family have tattoos and I've always found them interesting. I've never known how to even begin experimenting in the area until I saw Vine offering supplies and I had to order them and try to give it a shot, so I'm just at the beginning stage. This skin is pretty realistic feeling, it's very flexible and a little bit stretchy. It's plenty deep enough, I can't imagine going that deep in real skin, so you're able to use both sides without poking through, so these skins are a bargain. They are not flesh tone, but the amount of yellow color kind of simulates the contrast you'd probably get, so I'd say these are best for black ink practice. It feels like there is a slight coating of powder on them too, probably to keep them from sticking to the plastic wrapping of the individual pieces. They wash off and dry very easily and are ready to go. Thanks for the great product! ... show more

  • Great item to perfect your tattoo art with
I got these 3mm Tattoo Practice Skins for my daughter who is a professional tattoo artist. She says working with the product is just like working on human skin and she can practice new designs and ideas on these without having to worry that they come out perfectly. Better to test and work kinks out on a practice skin than on a customer. ... show more

  • Large sheets, thick but flexible, annoying powder, holds ink well.
Decent product and price. These are very large sheets, almost letter sized, and are very thick and durable. Each can be used on both sides so that almost effectively doubles the 6 piece count. Each sheet is also individually wrapped. When first opening, I noticed that each skin is powder coated, which was weird. People don't have powder on their skin, so if we're trying to mimic real skin, what's with the powder. It was sort of a nuisance, but I just washed each with mild soap and water before use. After that, the fake skins worked well to hold ink and not smear. It is still fake skin, so there's slight differences in color retention versus tattooing real skin, but that holds true for almost every synthetic practice skin. These sheets can be wrapped around an object or armrest and taped down to stay in place and practice. ... show more
