  • Excellent storage box
If I could I would give this 4 1/2 stars. I think it is strong, weather resistant, in its upright position rain resistant, easy to open… The one weakness is the side with the hinges. The wire/rod used as hinge pins is easy to cut and then the lid can be opened. I believe it would be possible for the manufacturer to add loops for additional padlocks on that side without interfering with the operation of the hinges. This would provide additional security when needed. ... show more

  • Nice box, but arrived damaged.
Nice sturdy truck box, with lots of room inside to store things. It arrived with a cracked corner of the lid. I fixed it with a little JB Weld, and it has proven to be 100% waterproof. The hinge is a flimsy wire piece, so don't get too energetic with operating the lid, but it seems to work well enough. Later, I noticed the rivets holding the latch plate to the front of the box were missing and or bent. Had to drill out the old rivets and replace with new pop rivets. After that, the box is now operational. It's a nice box, but the quality control at the factory is horrendous. There is no excuse for shipping a product in this poor substandard condition to paying customers. I would NOT recommend this item to friends. ... show more

  • Good Box Bad Lock Know What Youre Buying
This box is larger than you think. It's not tiny (its higher than you think) Suggest you take the measurements they provide and check them against your application. This is made of a sturdy, structural plastic that is easy to clean. Some people have mentioned these arrive dirty. I guess you could say that in the most loosest of terms, but you wipe it down and it's good. Next, you can't keep true, lowlife thieves out of anything; that is for sure the case with this. The lock is not as strong as the box itself. The lock has historical and ongoing problems. The manufacturer would profit by addressing this. That issue is made a bit better by using your own (2) locks) The hinges aren't for security either. I would say this box is more for collecting, organizing, carrying from point a to b and keeping clean; it's not for security. I would only suggest to the manufacturer to fix the lock and hinge issues and supply a way/product to secure this (to truck beds). Enhancing this would merit a higher price point. Some people put self tapping screws through the bottom of this into the truck bed. I hate solves like that but they could deter (not stop) a thief. I spotted someone on the road (Toyota Tundra) with this that had an ingenious way of securing it to their truck; it looks like they used a band like that used for water heaters, secured it to the truck and then secured that around/into the box. It was very clean. For now, I only put this in our truck when I need it; slight pain (I secure it using straps). Because the box sits a little higher, it kinda looks like an advertisement to, come see what's in me." Anyhow, we had a problem with a defective lock and the company on Amazon that sells these (not the manufacturer) was extremely decent about solving our issue. This things pretty good if you understand it and if it seems to fit your purpose. The sales company is helpful. ... show more

  • This Is The One!
I scoured the internet for hours to find a durable yet affordable box. This is the one. I wanted it to transport my 2000 watt Champion generator [which is @ 18" high], and assorted camping supplies. It will sit well in my hitch mounted bin. I read many reviews of people who keep them in the back of their trucks. Similar boxes I found were well over $200. Metal ones were twice that...or more. A reviewer of a similar box [but one made of regular plastic] kicked a hole in his in a fit of anger. If this box were full of gear, he would have ended up with a broken foot, not a broken box! The overlapping lip makes it weather resistant. Being made of structural foam, it's sturdy, and can be used as a seat or table. Despite the strength, it's relatively lightweight, and there are handles moulded into the sides. I did not know that this one came with a keyed lock - which is a plus - but the latch is a little less than substantial. Fortunately, two eyelet on the front allow one to use a mid-weight lock to secure it. I bought this two-pack, and they're perfect: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FL6J8LV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use a "Lashlock", which is a locking/tightening cable that should be standard gear for all surfers, boarders, kayakers and anyone who has anything on the outside of the vehicle. I can loop it around the rails of my bin and over this box, and then secure it with a tightening clamshell that has a combo lock. Look around, they can be found. Understand that this is a "plastic" box, and if someone really wants to get in, they can. But it will definitely deter "thefts of opportunity". I have no qualms about leaving gear in this box while away from a campsite - as long as the box itself is secured. I'm really glad to have found it! ... show more

  • I have 5 of these and will order more - they are worth it!
I have three big Contico boxes and 2 smaller ones now. Yes, they cost more than your typical Rubbermaid bins, but these are not those. These are extremely sturdy.. so sturdy than you can put tools in the them. You can even sit or stand on these bins! I love that they have the holes in the front so you can slide locks through them and keep things locked up. They also seem to be waterproof! Gave 2 to my son so he can store his tools in them. Kept 3 for myself to store camping gear and equipment. When I'm ready to go, I simply throw these in the back of my truck and we're off. Bonus points for being able to use these as benches to sit on while camping. I even place one on the ground at the bed of my truck and use it as a stool to climb in the back of my truck when I need to. ... show more

  • Cheaply designed
It only took a matter of seconds for someone to pull the pins out of the cheap hinges and steal all my tools.
