Purchased these to waterproof electrical connections for heated chicken and bunny waterers used over the Winter months. Prior to using these safety covers, I was having problems with snow and water getting to the plugs and causing GFI outlets to trip. This would cut the power to the heated waterers and subject the water to freeze in subzero temps, endangering the animals relying on the water heaters for hydration. These safety covers are extremely easy to use...just center the electrical plugs inside the compartment, press the cords into the crimps, and snap shut. The only real drawback is the small plastic latches on the outside break off very easily, with minimal effort. That being said, the safety covers still work fine if one of the plastic latches break. You can throw these onto the ground and let snow pile up over them and never worry about your plugs getting wet/corroded or tripping a GFI outlet. Overall, these safety covers work well for keeping water off of 2 or 3-prong plugs used on extension cords. If you want to double the protection, coat the male and female plugs with Corrosion-X and you'll never have water problems or electrical shorts that can trip off a GFI outlet. Docked a star because the small plastic latches on the outside break too easily.

I used this outside, throughout this cold northeast winter. This unit protected the extension cord connection to my heated birdbath -surviving rain, snow and frigid temperatures. I am pleased with this product and would absolutely recommend. I would also recommend double checking plug sizes to ensure proper sizing & fit. For instance my holiday lights set up requires a much larger unit.

These are good for holding cord connections together and snow protection, but these are more like water resistant, not waterproof. When I open these up after a rainstorm there’s a little puddle in each one. The connections aren’t soaked, but water definitely gets in there after a moderate/heavy rain storm.
