I like that it will charge my phone or my lighter. I can charge a power bank when the sun is out and then charge my USB items from the power pack when it is convenient. The solar panel has enough power to directly charge my phone, which takes about 12 to 15 watts. I also have an electronic lighter, to light fires, that takes a USB charge to refill - a small electric future without fuels. Folds up small and is light enough to bring in a backpack. I have changed my rating from 2 to 4.5. This would have rated a 5 except for my particular circumstances. I live in northern Wisconsin and bought this charger in December as a backup for when the power went out. Unfortunately it doesnโ€™t work very well through windows, even on sunny days. Double pane windows block too much light. It will slowly charge a battery pack but will not work directly with my Apple devises. This is due to engineering constraints with Apple batteries NOT the charger. Now that the weather is warmer and I can put it outside it works great. I set it out and let it charge my battery pack during the day and then use the pack to charge my iPad and iPhone at night. Iโ€™m probably not saving a lot of electricity but with climate change here every little bit helps. BigBlue did get back to me and offered a full refund but I am keeping the charger. Actually works pretty well. Charged my helemt and phone. Takes a little longer but works good even with clouds and or through a window. Goes down to 57 dollars in middle of month for about 3 or 4 days every month.

We tested out the BigBlue and it worked really, really well. Charged phones and did everything it claimed. For front country camping, a great investment! For backpacking, not so much. I really don't mind carrying weight backpacking (not an ultralight person or a gram counter and use to instruct it for a living), but this goes a step too far. It is heavy and bulky, so the there is not a great place to tuck this thing away. If you are thinking about getting this for backpacking, I do not recommend it! Perfect for long ride with no power supply for a while. In bright sunny day it takes about 10 hours to charge 10000 mah power bank fully. I took off little pouch and change carabiners to save some weight. After that It weighs only 230g.

On a clear day (March 24, 2023), I placed the recharging solor pad on flat on the cement patio at 2:48 pm and plugged in my cell phone (LG Aristo 3+) with 46% battery life. Within 30 minutes my battery was at 77%, and at 45 minutes it registered 89%. In one hour total, the battery was at 99%. Very impressive and handy device that will be a great tool for casual camping and road trips :) ... show more
