These mounting blocks are extremely handy when adding or replacing light fixtures on the vinyl siding of your home. I couldn’t find this particular shape at the hardware store, so I was excited to be able to order it through Amazon. Even better, you can get a 2-pack. I’ve used similar products in the past, and these work just as expected. Make sure you know what the depth of your siding’s profile is. Mine is 1/2”. The wiring holes are a little hard to punch out, but this is not a negative for me. I like that everything is sealed tight until you want to punch out a hole. And when you do, there is a plastic insert to help hold the wiring, while also blocking out cold air and bugs. The superb quality must be mentioned. It is very solid and well made. It does not flex or bend. There are no molding or manufacturing errors. It looks and feels great. Items like this SHOULD be sturdy because they will be battling the outdoor elements for years. It even has the tiny drip hole at the bottom in case moisture collects from rain. One tip when using these: Apply caulk around the top and sides of the block after installation to reduce how much moisture gets in. If you’re looking for electric mounting blocks for your home that will fit the shape of your siding, I can definitely recommend these. ... show more

A bit of a cautionary tale for measure twice, cut once. I thought I remembered the exact size of our siding 'boards', but apparently not since mine are smaller than this mounting block. The block itself is really sturdy feeling. It feels like it's built to last and can take a lot of abuse. It comes with some mounting hardware, but it looks like it should line up perfectly with the junction box. It comes with some screws and gromets for both blocks. A seal or gasket to go around the inside edge to close up any gaps would have been a welcome addition as the siding doesn't really have straight lines and edges. ... show more
