This is made from plastic and I think aluminum. The quality though is pretty solid and one I can keep indoors with screwdrivers and other small hand tools. I did ditch the little plastic organizing container preferring more interior real estate. Glad to have that option. In terms of size this thing seems just perfect! Can fit onto a shelf and the latches feel pretty secure. Even though it’s made from plastic, it’s thick enough to have no concerns about tools poking and jabbing through. Also being plastic, I feel comfortable knowing I won’t scratch myself on metal accidentally. Pretty necessary when using indoors and in a house with kids. Also the top compartment requires the latches to be unhooked. Some might find this annoying but having owned other toolboxes I’m glad it’s built this way. If made from plastic you want this cover mounted down, otherwise in a few months or years, that cover will be swinging all over the place.

Over the years, I have accumulated a great number of tools. Some are duplicative, but for the most part, they are for different purposes such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry. I have different toolboxes for each of these, and I even have a smaller toolbox just for picture hanging and similar. I got this because I needed a “utility” toolbox that I could keep in the house so I wouldn’t have to go out to the garage (where almost everything else is kept) when I needed something. In this case, then, I have things like a few sets of screwdrivers, pliers, a small hammer, an allen wrench (hex-L key) set and some other tools and spare parts (think Ikea furniture and similar). First, the things that I like. It’s a medium-sized toolbox, which is nicer than some of the ultra-small boxes you find. It’s largely made of metal, which is nicer than many of the plastic ones available (I have a couple of those, too, that I don’t care for). The handle is large and durable. It has a tray for the top (like most toolboxes) and extra compartments for smaller or extra tools that you might access more frequently. It also has a place for a padlock, which is nice (even though I won’t be using it). Finally, it comes with a mini box that you can use for bits, such as screws, washers, etc. There are a few things I dislike. The first is that the extra tray for smaller things is thin and brittle. I accidentally cracked mine pulling it out of the box from underneath some heavier tools. Second, the latches on the side don’t appear to be particularly strong. Both the metal they’re made from and the place where they lock down seem thin and not too strong. I can see a potential scenario where if the box were too heavy or it was somewhat heavy and used regularly, that the latches could eventually give way. I didn’t experience this, but it is a concern of mine. Overall, I think this is reasonable value for a light-to-medium duty toolbox that will see infrequent or less than moderate use. In this regard, the extra compartments and the metal frame make it a really good deal. If you’re going to be using it often and/or carrying heavier tools in it, however, I would probably recommend something else.

This is a nice, fairly well-designed toolbox. I like the small parts storage on the top. The toolbox latches perform double duty by keeping that cover latched as well. The parts bin cover doesn't match the compartments in the very light-weight parts tray, so small items can migrate to other compartments. The removable tray in the toolbox is a decent size for a few pliers and screwdrivers while the main compartment can hold larger tools. It came with a separate small (5"x2½"x1") spare parts box with extra movable dividers. Unfortunately, this box won't fit in the top compartment and takes up too much room on the removable tray, but I might find a use for it. This toolbox will live in our fifth-wheel camper trailer and will do a great job of organizing the selection of tools we keep on hand for small repairs.

I needed a toolbox to keep some basic tools so I could just grab it and go when I am facing a job where I don’t know what I am going to be faced with. This toolbox worked out great for this role. It holds plenty of basic tools like a hammer, a variety of screwdrivers and pliers, putty knives, a level, voltage testers, tape measure, etc.. There is an upper tray for small tools too. Plus, the top of the lid has a nice area to store a collection of nails, screws, wire nuts and electrical connectors. Everything is built pretty well and I expect it to last. The box itself has a steel shell. That surprised me as I had expected it to be plastic. Importantly, there are no sharp edges, and the latches hold firmly even though they are a pretty lightweight steel. My only complaint is that they should have padded the center of the stainless steel handle. Overall, I like this toolbox as a portable container for basic tools.

I recently picked up the 'sport' of lock picking and have quite a few practice locks, pick sets, etc. I had been storing the stuff in a sturdy shoebox but it's pretty heavy so was looking to upgrade. This toolbox was perfect!! Durable handle, I love the small trays in the lid that can't open unless the main box latches are opened (unlike most of my other toolboxes where the top lid flips open when I open the main box--this feature alone is with 5 stars) The box is good quality and can handle the weight no problem at all. All my other toolboxes are plastic--I haven't seen a quality metal one in years! The inset tray in the main box is well made and designed. Honestly, I'm impressed with everything about the box.
