Over the years I have had shutters in many different homes, and I have become a fan of these lightweight shutters that are just for decorative purposes. I ordered the paintable ones and they have turned out very well. I did use a good primer before painting, and it was worth the time. The paint went on very easily after that and they look great with two coats of paint. We have not put them up yet, because we are waiting the four days suggested in the brochure to let the paint totally dry. I bought a pair to replace a broken wooden shutter. Easily installed they looked every bit as good as the wooden shutters. Realizing these would be a no maintenance alternative to very difficult maintenance wood shutters, I replaced all my old wooden shutters. Nice shutters for the price. I bought the pair you can paint. Definitely would use spray next time. Used a brush cause was also painting the ones on the house and didnt want to take off all of them and man was it time consuming. But shutters are nice.
