For the size I purchased, you cannot beat the price for four total! Our old shutters were black when we purchased the house, and I painted them white a few years later. They held up pretty good for almost 25 years after that, but it was definitely time for new ones. I did look in local home-improvement stores, but none of them had the exact size and what they did have was super expensive! Finally wizened up and looked here on Amazon and lo and behold! They had the exact size I needed! And the price was amazing. So happy when they arrived and found how beautiful and sturdy they were and installation was easy!     • Shutters Can Be Hinged

This is the 2nd set of these shutters I have purchased. The first set I bought last year. I used them on my balcony to shield plants from the intense, scorching sun. This year I decided that they would look nicer and be more versatile if they were hinged even though that is not what they were designed for. I purchased hinges, screws, hex nuts, and tiny plastic screw protectors. Using an awl and other tools, I was able to create holes in the plastic to assemble the hinges. Now they are free standing vs leaning against baker's racks, etc and can be used many places on the balcony. (Note: Using electric devices would be not only less primitive but time-saving. Highly recommend rather than relying on one's own manual labor.) For years I have used 5-hinged wooden shutters for plants positioned higher. The set came pre-assembled with durable hinges and have lasted for close to 15 years. However, I wanted something lighter and shorter for smaller, lower areas, and these have worked well. They also look much nicer free-standing than leaning. The intensity and angle of the sun's rays are not 100% blocked, but the plants are acceptably less scorched. Doesn't matter whether the shutters are louvered (like the tall wooden ones) or in a fixed position (like these shorter ones), some rays will still get through. ... show more

These were super quick and easy to install and very lightweight. My only concern is the plastic connector to the wall wasn't very tight or didn't appear super durable. I could see it break off with heavy pressure an it being easy to pull them off the wall. This is a concern due to the fact we live in FL and they are replacing our shudders we lost in 155 mph winds. I guess we will wait and see and I will edit this review after the next hurricane season. ... show more

I was amazed at the quality of this premium product. Very similar to the weight and structure of PVC shutters. There will definitely be no warping or fading of this product.. I highly recommend this product.

The were actually thicker then the shutters they replaced. The issue of drilling the holes and then aligning them to the holes drilled into the brick was a bit concerning but it worked out very well. Another option for securing with screws would have been nice though the plastic inserts worked as long as a person is careful while tapping them in. ... show more
