  • Great picture with middling build quality
Style: PU15-PRE(4K,Touch,Battery)
I've had the screen for three months now, use it everyday, and I'm not entirely certain it's going to last much longer. For a 'portable' screen there seem to be some durability issues. Pros •Great picture: It's oled. It's 4k. It's touchscreen. It's USB. I wanted all of those and, for some reason that combination is curiously difficult to find in a single package. I bought it to allow me to use my Steam Deck for some work and, for that purpose, it has been wonderful. The Steam Deck does displayport over USB and this screen works well with it. The touchscreen works...well, as well as Windows works with touchscreens. •Sleekness: The aluminum body is incredibly thin. It's a cliche to say at this point but it feels very 'Apple'y.' Cons •Button quality (Major): After three months, the buttons are becoming unresponsive. There are only three of them, volume up, down, and power. I don't use the sound on this thing and for some reason the volume buttons are starting to feel completely stuck. On the other hand, the power button is turning to soup, and beginning to recede into the body. The problem is that you activate the onscreen menu controls to brighten/dim the screen WITH the power button and, if you're like me, you're going to be adjusting the brightness a lot depending on the room conditions. I use this in a bright office during the day and in a pitch black room next to my wife at night. Also the power on the device is exceptionally finicky. Sometimes simply plugging it into my computers causes the screen to be recognized and come on...sometimes not until I hold the power button down on the monitor (for up to 10-12 seconds) to make it come on. •Mini-HDMI (Major): This one isn't necessarily on the manufacturer. The display has three ports: 2 USB and 1 mini-hdmi port. Mini-HDMI is the world's single worst connector next to micro-usb. When I'm not using this with my Steam Deck I like to have it next to my tower as a secondary display and the tower uses hdmi or DP but can't do DP over USB. SO, I have a displayport to mini-hdmi cable as well as an HDMI to mini-hdmi cable. I'm fairly certain the mini-hdmi port on the display is now starting to fail given that neither cable works all the time anymore. Getting the computer to see the monitor has become a crapshoot of plugging and unplugging either of those cables (no doubt exacerbating the port failure) until the computer finally sees the display. I haven't tried an HDMI to USB cable or dongle yet but that's probably next so that I can abandon the mini-hdmi port altogether. •The included 'stand' case (Medium): The origami stand case that is included is pretty flimsy, has zero display angles, a giant footprint, and ended up collapsing on me enough that I stopped using it for anything other than some protection when the screen is traveling. Instead I keep a fold-able tablet stand from Lamicall in my bag for when I'm out and about. At home I bought a tablet holder that has a VESA mount on it and attached that to a monitor arm. Works pretty well. •Speaker Volume (Minor): The speakers are very soft. Almost to the point of wondering why they included them if they could have cut cost or included dedicated buttons to control the display settings. •Won't charge over one USB cable (minor): For some bizarre reason, the monitor won't charge over a single USB cable. I'm running off of a Razer thunderbolt dock (not directly from the Steam Deck) which is capable to delivering a lot of power. But the display runs completely off battery when you're doing USB display. You have to plug ANOTHER USB cable in to their included power brick (though if I plug that into another port on the Razer dock instead, the battery slow drains but at a pace that I can use it for most of the day.) Observations: •Bezels: The top and size bezels are fine but this boy has a big chin with a mirror reflective 'innocn' logo on it. Your mileage may vary with how much it annoys you. •Confusing oled blacks: I don't know enough about the display tech but my understanding was that oled blacks are BLACK, as in the backlighting is essentially turned off. However, when using this in bed, even with the display brightness turned down so I'm not blinding myself, I can tell by comparing the onscreen blacks to the bezels of the display that there is a LOT of lot light behind those pixels as with an LCD. There is still considerably more contrast and and a richer image than an LCD but it was still noticeable. This may have to do with something in the display settings I don't have dialed in properly but I thought it was worth mentioning. Conclusions: The portable display market is an absolute clusterfork, especially if you need DP-USB (don't get me started on USB docks and dongles) and a touchscreen. Honestly, if you want all of the bells and whistles that I was looking for, this is pretty much the ONLY display I found that includes them. And I've really enjoyed using it, I'm just very worried that the durability issues I mentioned mean that I'm not going to be able to use it for very much longer. If the thing does give up the ghost I will edit the review with it's total lifespan. ... show more

  • Beautiful, sharp display for a MacBook Pro with some connectivity issues
Style: PU15-PRE(4K,Touch,Battery)
I've been using this for about 4 months as a second display with an M1Max MacBook Pro in a stationary placement on my desk. (I haven't really had a chance to travel with it, so I can't speak to its usefulness in that regard.) I was looking for a small display to fill in under my main display and while there are lots of 15.6-inch displays available, this was the only one I could find that was OLED and 4K. It's a bit pricey (especially compared to the myriad of 1080p LCDs), but you definitely get what you pay for. First off, the display is absolutely gorgeous. It is sharp, bright, and colorful with no signs of ghosting, bleed, or other issues common with cheap LCD displays. The actual viewable display area is 15.6 inches, although it does have about an inch of bezel at the bottom (the other sides have about 3/8-inch bezel). This display is far superior to my main display (an LG UltaFine 5K, which isn't really a high bar), except, of course, it's much smaller. Although I don't ever use the touch feature, I have played with it enough to determine it does work on macOS. However macOS is not a touch-based operating system and therefore the touch functionality doesn't work perfectly with multiple screens. This means if you use another screen with this display the touch input on this display actually registers on the display that currently has the mouse pointer on it—the pointer does NOT move to where you touched if the pointer is on another display. As long as you make sure to move the pointer (with your mouse/trackpad) to this display first, it generally seems to work as expected. I don't think this is the fault of the display—macOS is not designed to be a touch-based system. Also note that this display does NOT recognize input from a 2nd generation Apple Pencil. I was initially hoping this could be a one-cable display, but it does not seem possible to provide enough power over the USB-C data cable (or other cables, such as Thunderbolt 3 and 4 cables). For me, this wasn't a major issue because I have a USB power hub on my desk and I just plugged in a second USB-C cable to power the display. The quality of this display more than makes up for the extra power cable. The only significant issue I've had with this display (and why it doesn't get 5-stars, although I'd give it 4.5 if I could) is that it sometimes won't establish the video link (over USB-C, at least) when waking from sleep. When this happens, I have to disconnect the USB-C data cable for about 30 seconds then plug it back in and it will work again. I usually disconnect the cable from the MBP side because I fear the USB-C connectors in the display might not hold up well to being disconnected and re-connected a few times per week. If I ever return to traveling to a remote office I'm sure this display will become even more valuable to me as it is almost the same size (except thinner) as the 16" MBP and will easily fit in the same bag with it. I'll have to throw in an extra USB power supply, but that's still probably worth effectively doubling my workspace. ... show more

  • Looks great next to a Mac M1 16 Retina screen
Style: PU15-PRE(4K,Touch,Battery)
I've been looking for a portable second screen monitor for my MBP 16 for a little while. I've had others but the color or quality is so far off, it drove me crazy. I can say that this monitor seems as good or better than my mac. The touchscreen works on MacOS which surprised me. This thing is this and slick! Love it! There's nothing sticking out of the back, no extra bulge at the bottom, FLAT! Without the case, this thing looks like it came right from Apple. Would have had 5 stars but: - Power through is not 100w so it can't power my MBP, but also, needs it's own power because it can't be powered by the MBP either, so that's two power cables plus the USB-C for connectivity. Frankly a version with PD passthrough and able to run off the Mac and no battery would be fine with me. This isn't a deal breaker but you'll probably want a multiport GaN power brick. - The case/cover/stand thing is an okay case/cover but makes it ugly but it's a _horrible_ awkward stand. There are no VIA mounting holes (one reason it could be so thin). I don't know what a good solution is here but what it's got now isn't really working. Maybe a sleeve and a stand. Maybe a tablet stand and a sleeve would be a better option. - The cables seems cheap, stiff and stick out way too far at this price point. I've added some angle USB-C connectors and my own cables to cure this but I shouldn't have to. ... show more
