Even though this is marketed as a classroom-sized set, it has been perfect for our home. My wife likes to keep plenty of art supplies on hand for when all of our grandkids come over, and this large pack has been ideal for that. There are enough paint sticks that everyone can be creative without worrying about running out or having to share just a few colors. The grandkids absolutely love using them. They are easy for little hands to hold, and they enjoy drawing, coloring, and creating all kinds of artwork. It is a fun activity that keeps them entertained while encouraging their creativity and imagination. My wife's favorite part is the cleanup. Like most grandparents, we expect a little mess when the grandkids are doing art projects, but these washable paint sticks make cleanup quick and easy. These tempera paint sticks are a lot of fun to use and would absolutely be a hit in a classroom, daycare, homeschool setting, or craft room. The colors are bright and vibrant, they glide smoothly across paper, and I love that there is no need for water, brushes, paint trays, or all the cleanup that comes with traditional paint. It almost reminded me of coloring with eyeliner. How you get that nice smooth line and it's not a sharp pencil but it's not liquid. That's what each one of these paint sticks reminding me of was a large eyeliner twist up stick. The twist-up design is easy for kids to use, and the paint goes on much more smoothly than I expected. And I was surprised to see how much each tube holds. They give you a fair amount of each color in each tube. The colors show up well, blend nicely, and dry fairly quickly. I can definitely see why teachers would appreciate these since they're far less messy than bottles of tempera paint. The organization of the set is also well done. With 192 paint sticks and 16 colors, there's enough here for a classroom, group activities, church programs, daycare centers, or community art projects. Having multiple sticks of each color means fewer arguments over who gets the blue or red paint stick. My biggest hesitation is the price. While the quality is very good, nearly $90 feels steep. I've seen similar paint stick sets with comparable quantities selling for $20 to $30 less. At a lower price point, this would easily be a 5-star product for me. Overall, these are smooth, vibrant, easy-to-use paint sticks that deliver exactly what they promise. The quality is excellent, but the current price keeps me from giving them a perfect rating.

These tempera paint sticks are easy to use. At about 2.8125” long and 0.625” wide, these paint sticks are about the size of chapsticks and they are easy for children to grasp and manipulate. The twist knob at the bottom is easy to rotate, and it does a good job of moving the paint core up and down. When using the tempera paint sticks, they glide smoother than crayons or pastel, so they require very little effort or pressure. Its glossy texture reminds me of the smoothness of lipstick. The paint core itself is largely solid so that it doesn’t feel like a chunk will slide off the side if you apply too much pressure. The clear caps are easy to take off and put back on, and they are secure enough that they will not fall off by themselves. The tempera paint quality is excellent as is the variety of colors. Each color brings its own vibrancy, which makes artwork stand out. One thing to note when using the paint sticks, since the tubes are a bit wide, it can be difficult to see exactly where you are applying the paint (unlike the precision of color pencils, pastels, and paint brushes). Overall, these are excellent paint sticks for the quality and colors of the paint as well as the ease of using them for children.

Each color has its own compartment, making it easy for students to return supplies to the correct spot. I had never used tempera paint sticks before, but I became an immediate fan. Imagine taking the smooth color payoff of paint and combining it with the dryness of a crayon... that is what these feel like. Paint with no spills, no mess, no cleanup! Yes! 👏 To test them, I quickly created the butterfly picture shown in my attached photo. The colors went down smoothly and provided vivid coverage without having to press hard. I like that there are 24 sticks of each color. The 2 shades of blue and green are so similar, it's difficult to notice a huge difference in color. The idea that they are a non-messy way to use tempera paint is a great idea. With that being said, I don't really see a difference between these and crayons. I am not sure exactly what I was expecting, but thought it would be more solid looking on the paper. It seems to leave spaces between color, even when pressing harder. These work well when doing less detailed drawing and painting/coloring. There is not really a way to use these for fine detailed work. These work well for younger kid's hands since they are easy to grip. The stick rises when the bottom is twisted on the stick. The drawback is if it's twisted up too far and not retracted, the cap will press down and mash the paint stick. Also, if a cap is lost, the stick could dry out. When testing the colors, I ran my finger across the finished streaks. They never felt wet, did not smear and only after rubbing very hard,did any color residue end up on my finger. I know it is possible to use these on watercolor paper or dip a wet brush across the sticks. This will give the ability to have a more watercolor effect and blend easily. When used in this way, it's slightly messier, but cleanup is also easy since it's soap and water or wet wipe cleaning. In comparison to a crayon, (not seeing much difference), in my opinion, these seem costly.

These paint sticks are really impressive. The colors are rich and vibrant and the application is smooth, which is not always the case with solid paint sticks. The yellow especially looked great on cardboard and the color payoff was noticeably better than I expected. My son has had a great time with them and the twist-up design makes them easy for kids to use on their own without making a mess. The set comes organized in a divided tray with all 16 colors separated into their own sections, which keeps everything neat and easy to grab. The variety is solid too with a good mix of basics alongside colors like skin tone, gray, lavender, and brown that you do not always get in a basic set. For 192 sticks across 16 colors this is a really good value and the quality is genuinely there to back it up.
