Why did you pick this product vs others?: Picked over the Vevor $169 model because it had a drill chuck for the tailpiece instead just a center. Planned use to turn small brass rods for boat model parts like sheaves. Although it has all the features of a simple lathe, it has none of the precision or adjustability needed for functionality. Alignment between head & tailpieces was off by close to 2 mm. Was able to get it more or less concentric by shimming the tailpiece blocks, and drilling/tapping for 3 mm adjustment screws on the vertical plate holding the tailpiece assembly to the base. The leadscrews have ~.4 mm of backlash. fixed that by drilling/tapping for 3 mm set screws to fix the handwheels securely to their shafts, and adding a couple of washers to the lock nut end of the shafts. The headpiece chuck has ~.2-.3 mm wobble. I'm taking the lathe to a machinist friend of mine who has fixed problems like this before on hobbyist lathes. There's no speed control, but could be added easily with a PWM voltage controller. As expected the "instructions" are completely useless to address any of these problems and written in broken, incomprehensible English. A couple of Youtube videos are out, but neither addressed the alignment or wobble issues. Depending on what you're planning to do with it, perhaps these don't matter. Value for money: Two stars only because I have access to the expertise required to make it functional. If you're not prepared to do this, would not recommend.
