Every time I order casting resin from my local advanced materials supplier, I throw in a set of plastic mixing cups, and I find uses for them all over the lab - mixing resin, sure, but also holding discarded chemicals, as a makeshift mold box, you name it. These things are always in demand and I never feel like I have enough, so a 120 pack of them sounded amazing, even if the 8oz capacity is on the small side. I'm seeing a lot of Reli brand packaging and storage supplies show up recently, and so far I've found them to be a.. well, reliable brand. Everything is packaged and labeled well, and the goods match the description. These are no exception. It's delivered as a box containing six sleeves of 20 cups each. The cups have printing on the sides indicating up to 8 oz, but the cups themselves are actually 12 oz, a welcome discovery - the extra space gives you room to mix. They're a lot flimsier material than I am used to for a resin cup - not in a way I find problematic for a single mixing job, but these won't last you weeks like the ones my plastics supplier sells. Which is okay, because they're much lower priced! But these are essentially drink cups, as revealed by the dishwasher markings on the bottom... The markings on the side are quite nice, and evaluated against other disposable plastic cups (like the ubiquitous translucent ones that always show up next to iced tea on buffets), these are certainly on the thicker/sturdier side. (And clear!) But even accounting for that, if you don't need the markings, you may be able to simply buy ordinary disposable cups and use those instead for a lower cost. I almost gave this four stars because they are so similar to ordinary disposable cups, but markings can be really important to double-check your work when working on resin, so on further consideration I went with the full five. If you do need markings, these are a good choice and I will enjoy having them in my lab. (And I'll enjoy the freedom to toss out the cup when it gets gross!). Just keep in mind that there are other options out there that are just as good for resin if you don't need the extra features these offer.
