The intended purpose is to absorb standing waves, flutter echos, and otherwise rogue acoustic anomalies that can ruin a recording session or listening experience. These made a noticeable impact on the echo in the room and are a welcome addition to the traditional studio foam I have around my desk and microphone area. I placed them about mouth-level on the walls which previously had nothing on them. If you want to really check if they work, just hang one on your wall and then put your ear close to it. In my case, it made me feel kind of deaf which means there were vastly fewer sound waves coming from that area.

The tiles look really nice, and they are good at cutting echo. They are not for soundproofing, but if you have a room that is overly noisy, especially with wood floors, they help quite a lot. I put twelve in the office to help stop echos since people were complaining when I was on calls. Here is the secret to adhering them to your walls without destroying the paint or even the wallboard. Put strips of blue painter tape across the wall, and put an adhesive on top the tape. I've tried a couple types of strong tape, and for the most part, it won't work long term. Gradually they fall off. What does work is hot melt glue. It gets into the fibers well, which tape doesn't, is quick to apply, and it sticks to the painter tape. Spray adhesives are messy, so I don't recommend those. When you're tired of the panels, peel them away, and the tape shouldn't have messed up the wall, at least not too much.

Bought this to help decrease echo and hopefully weaken enough sound so it won't be as loud when I close the door. Which it does slightly decrease the volume that can be heard from my room. I currently opened 4 packs of the foams. It arrived with 6 smaller packages, each with 6 foam boards. I'm only using it on my door and putting along the wall around my desk. The 3 stars are taken off for: 1. The adhesive on the foam is WEAK. One foam starts falling off my door the night when I put it up. Basically one foam falls per day. I'm currently using painter's tape to keep them up since I have an abundance of them. It does a better job holding the foams up. And despite the weak adhesive, there are bits of foam sticking to the wall after it falls off, the the tape on the other hand doesn't harm the door at all. 2. Out of the opened foam, half of the foams are damaged. They all have an entire line of pyramids staying flat or half inflated. Each foam has 6 x 6 pyramids, so that's 1/6 damaged for each of the 12 out of 24 foams I have opened. I'm still testing since it hasn't been that loud recently. I'll update if anything new comes up.

I bought the 36 pack. Only 11 of them were usable. Maybe 5 were good. Most have one side smashed down. I hung 8 of them. We shall see if they stay stuck.

Use for Pit Orchestra to keep the "piercing" trumpet high notes a little more calm. Stage director happier & no longer complaining and I don't need to hurt myself attempting unsupported ranges..

Sound dampening not sound proofing. As the latter is composed of a system of different materials and construction techniques working together to achieve. D dampening or reducing sounds, this product does and does well. The adhesive on the back works quite well. If you stick it to something amd later wish to move it, 3m spray adhesive will help it to restock. Negative: the picture shows 35kg/m³ but i received 25kg/m³... I didn't bother with reporting it bc I needed them right then and there. They definitely take 24-48 or more to return to normal size without messing with them, longer the colder the ambient temp, however messing with 36 of them will take a life time. There were a few that didn't reform but with a little teasing with your fingers and blowing your hit moisture breath into those spots it puffs right up likenit should. (Minds out of the gutter!)
