I purchased a six pack of the 11x14 plain pine wood frames for a gallery wall in our nursery. Overall I'm happy with them, especially for the price. For some background, I am a semi-pro photographer and worked in a professional frame shop for a short while many years ago so have more experience than the average person with framing. I have seen many different framing systems and mounting hardware over the years. Frame quality seems ok. No dings or chips, minimal splintering. Joinery is decent, wood has a nice even tone and grain. There were some rubs on the wood but they aren't noticeable unless you look close. I'm not sure if they would stain easily. The frames are made of unfinished real pine wood. I like that because they are solid wood I didn't have to concern myself with chemicals that I wouldn't want in our baby's nursery, and that if the frames ever do make it to the landfill they will biodegrade eventually. Because they are pine, it's worth keeping in mind that the wood is fairly soft and these should be handled and stored with care to avoid dings and scratches. On our frames all the mats were cut with the appropriate 1/4" overlap on the opening (opening size is 7.5x9.5 inches for an 8x10 print). Based on other reviews, I actually waited to order the artwork for these until the frames came in so I could measure the opening and know whether I could order 8x10 prints or would need to order 11x14 prints. I had no problem centering my 8x10 images in the mat opening. The mat is two sided - on the white side you have the properly angled bevel, if you choose to reverse the mat and use the ivory/cream side, you should keep in mind that the bevel cut of the mat will be facing the wrong way. The plexiglass is thin and flexes easily, but has a protective backing on both sides and was undamaged on all six pieces. It was easy to remove the backing without damaging the plexi at all. The plexiglass acrylic glazing makes the frames lightweight. Since we were hanging artwork over a crib, I actually prefer acrylic over glass for this application both for its lightness and the fact that it won't shatter. It does mean that the surface can warp/flex slightly, even when seated in the frame. Also the glazing can't be cleaned with glass cleaner and is more prone to static than glass, although I didn't find this acrylic very static prone at all. This acrylic does not have any glare resistance, so worth keeping in mind depending on where you wish to display your art. The backing has an adequate amount of bracing closures and they are the "spin" type (not the type you bend) making it easy to replace artwork in these frames regularly if you want. All the frames also had stand, but the stands didn't seem super consistent with cut (some sat in the frame nicely, some less so) or particularly sturdy, so I'm not sure how these frames would hold up for table display vs wall display. All the frame inset pieces (glazing, mat, and backing) were cut to an appropriate size - not so snug that seating them in the rabbet of the frame was a struggle, but not so loose that they were shifting around significantly. The frames came with two small metal hanging brackets on the back that sit on the backing and are moveable/adjustable, allowing you to hang the frame vertically or horizontally and also shift the brackets slightly if you space your anchors wrong. They also came with a pack of plastic nailless push in wall hangers that have these short little metal push pin type spikes on the back to anchor them to drywall and then a little plastic tap you are supposed to hang the frame on. We opted to skip the nailless wall mounts and install a proper drywall anchor and screw to mount our artwork on instead. The included nailless wall hangers did not seem particularly sturdy, and the plastic nub you hang the metal frame hanger on was a bit too thick for the metal bracket on the frame to slide onto smoothly. Because we wanted a gallery wall type display, we felt it would be too tricky to get perfect alignment with the nailless mounts because of the tight fit, plus I felt very nervous trusting an untested mounting system over my baby's crib. Even using the drywall anchors and screws we didn't get the placement perfect, but I feel more confident that the frames won't fall off the wall this way. The metal brackets on each frame sit nicely inside the frame itself, giving you a nice flush mount to the wall. These frames are light enough that they could easily be hung with command strips as well, making them ideal for those in apartments or who don't have the skills/tools to install screw-in wall anchors. We probably could have gotten away with just a simple nail in drywall as well, but didn't want to compromise security given the context we were using them in. These frames were inexpensive, and for the money I think they are a good buy. The hanging/mounting system isn't great, so anyone purchasing should consider budgeting a little extra for some better mounting hardware and self-assess their handyperson skills if they intend to use these for a gallery wall. I feel like the quality is good for the price, and the frames met our needs at a price point I was willing to spend. They seem like they will hold up for our intended use and I like that they are so lightweight but still made of real wood. Overall I'm happy! ... show more

Can’t tell the frame is plastic unless handling or looking closely. I do think the frame itself looks kinda cheap if you stare at it, maybe because the color options were gold or silver? I Wish they had more options maybe a darker color would look nicer. For the price though definitely can’t complain, fits our 11x14 pics with the matte and look great hanging! ... show more

I bought these to frame 11x14 canvas boards, but the are a smidge too small. I plan to chisel out a bit to make them fit though, so not that big of a problem for me. That said, they arrived in good condition and are a great value.

The matting is very solid and has a professional look and feel. The frames are not fancy - kinda plain - but at the same time they function well if you’re looking for something sleek, clean, simple. What I like best is the fact that when disassembling and reassembling the backing, there are hinges that swing in and out for easy assembly. Most picture frames have metal tabs that have to be lifted - usually with a fingernail - and words cannot describe the pain that results when one of those things slides up under a fingernail! With these frames, that is NOT an issue, because again, it’s a swinging tab that pivots. Clever. Love it. I placed pictures from a wall calendar inside of these, and with the matting, it looks like professional photography. ... show more

These frames made me happy when they came. Actual lightweight wood that smells heavenly in the box but with a plastic screen so the frames are very lightweight. The plastic protective sheets on the screen came off pretty easily for me without residue. The frames came wrapped individually in scratch proof bags so if you need to pack them up to take somewhere it is easy. There are cheap wall hangers as well as the option to stand the picture on a shelf. The levers keeping the frame in place are swivels, not cheap metal that you bend up and down as with other cheap frames. Honestly I was not expecting this quality for the price. If you want a good cheap frame, look no further. If you want an art quality frame you should expect to pay more!! I used mine to frame a series of 11 x 14 craft projects that do not rise to the level of high art! I did not use the mat that came with the frame but it is perfectly acceptable. These are an affordable, light weight option. However, my order came with 1 frame without the matting and just a pice of filler paper and 1 frame with an ivory matting, while the other 4 frames came as advertised; black frame white matting. I needed all 6 frames to match, so I am having to return these and re-order. Besides the inconvenience, if these frames came as advertised I would have been completely satisfied. The quality is nice considering how light they are and the plastic instead of glass is much safer for a nursery. Overall, if you have time to return if you receive an incomplete set and aren't bothered by the possibility of the inconvenience, I would recommend these, as they are affordable for a pack of 6. ... show more
