I’m giving this a 3 star because I think the idea and functionality of this is great. However, I advise to make sure you have proper trim and windows that won’t trap heat. My seal in my window melted from the heat reflection and it being trapped in between the cover and window. It does block light well and it’s easy to assemble. ... show more

I had bought a paper blackout curtain at a big box store. It worked pretty good and I used it for several years in a guest bedroom for grandchildren. Then I found this! Wow what a complete kit (it even includes a tape measure)! Everything you need to darken a one window room. It's nice thick plastic blocks out all light if installed properly with their velcro strips and magnets. Or if you don't mind a tad of light coming in simply use chip clips or something similar to clip onto a window frame. The set is very reasonably and priced and would make a great shower gift for a new mom! ... show more

Easy to install! But I was impatient and cut the length wrong by a couple inches (totally my fault,but can work with it). Just use the old adage, measure twice,cut once! Lol NO LIGHT WHATSOEVER GETS THROUGH THE MATERIAL! Cutting can be done with plain house scissors and is doing a great job keeping the heat out of the room! Very satisfied! ... show more

I wavered between rating this three stars or four because I found it rather difficult to install. But it has made an appreciable difference in the temperature of our front office, which is exposed to direct afternoon sun. We're using it to cover the bottom half of a glass door, and it really keeps the room cooler. The included instructions are very sketchy. Installation is fairly obvious, but it helps to take some time and planning before diving in. After measuring (relying on the old adage "measure twice, cut once") and marking the cloth, I cut it to size and used the velcro tabs to attach it to the aluminum door frame. (I broke a nail on one of the velcro tabs, trying to find the edge of the peel-off adhesive covering; it looked like it had been stored in a hot environment too long, and the glue had melted everything together. The velcro tabs would be much improved with a pull tab, making it easier to peel off the adhesive covering.) The fabric is fairly thin, so I wondered if it would really keep out the sun out; but I am very happy with its efficacy in reflecting light and keeping out the heat. The thermostat tells me our front room has stayed a couple of degrees cooler since installing it. It's not the prettiest thing in the world; creases from where it's been folded don't show any signs of smoothing out. I may take a hair dryer to it and see if it'll improve. All in all, it's quite effective. Just be prepared for a little hassle with the installation. ... show more
