The bearings arrived loose inside of the heavy paper Amazon bag. They were supposed to be held together inside a think plastic sleeve . The sleeve had been taped but not sufficiently to secure the "cap". So the bearings were allowed to bang around with each other inside the paper bag during shipment. The bearings had a nice thin coating of oil and arrived rust-free. There was a small spot on the bore of one of the bearings that had not completely cleaned up during bore grinding. I don't think thin will be a major issue. But we would never have shipped this out since it would not have passed quality control in the bearing plant where I worked for 12 years. Otherwise, the bearings looked pretty good. The bores and OD's had been ground to a fine finish. The faces to a lesser degree, likely just a rough grind on a rotary surface grinder. When I was an engineer in a bearing manufacturing plant, we used Blanchard grinders for this. We did a final pass to get a finer finish. That is purely cosmetic. They are smooth enough and flat enough to "ring" together. If you gently rub them together, face to face, they stick as if magnetized. So, they have to be pretty flat. I lack the equipment to do proper measurements for radial and axial runout. There is a bit of both on these bearings, probably not enough to affect functionality. The OD's are within 0.001" of each other and 0.001" roundness. I don't have equipment to measure the OD's any closer than that. The bore diameter and roundness is within 0.0001", which is within my gauge resolution. I plan to use these in building a belt grinder. I think they will function well for that application. Fit rear wheel on my 2006 ezgo txt electric golf cart. Old bearing was growling. Super easy to pull out axle to check. Got number off bearing,went to auto parts store and got bearing 50 bucks plus . Came home looked on Amazon and ordered 6004 bearing. Returned to store as money is money First package came was empty as must off broke open in warehouse . Called Amazon and explained and they sent out another and this one came with bearings. Took maybe one half hour to install and super quiet again. Could not be happier ... show more
