I ordered this for nighttime use to moisturize my nails. The lanolin is thick therefore it stays on my nail for longer periods. As stated I use this at nighttime and cover my hands with cotton gloves to keep the product on my hands/nails for more thorough moisturizing. I am hoping to help my dry brittle nails. This product can also be used in many home made, more natural moisturizing products or ointments. Nice and light colored, low odor. I bought the same product in 2023 (from the same Amazon listing), and was disappointed. It was dark in color and very smelly. This order (in October 2025) was exactly what I was looking for.

This is a great product. It is very thick so I put it in my hands to soften then apply to dry areas. It isn’t sticky and has no smell. Works as intended.

    • great stuff, but the smell is like used machine oil
I love to mix stuff up with lanolin. From hand balm to leather conditioner/waterproofing. If it's made of skin, this stuff will make it better. Only thing is that lately the smell has gotten progressively worse. I tried this brand and it is no better that the stuff I pay less for. The quality [minus the smell is top notch], but it is getting harder to put up with this awful smell. I have tried to mix in tea tree oil, Frankincense, cedar, sandalwood [i think works] and eucalyptus which made it worst along with frankincense [just awful]. I am going to try the patchouli oil, along with coconut butter and bees wax to make some lotion [oh I thin it down with either mineral oil or mineral spirit] depending on what I'm using it for. So you better be prepare for the petroleum jelly or machine oil smell. ... show more

I purchased this lanolin to kick one of my varieties of body butter up a notch for winter dry skin. This is the first time I have used lanolin, so the scent was something of a surprise although I had read enough about it to be expecting a distinctive odor. It is not off-putting for me, however I’m not sure how my customers will react. Having said that, the results of this product on my skin are absolutely incredible! I think anyone suffering from dry skin will not care about the scent when they discover lanolin’s amazing benefits. I also wanted to say a word about this company. I am picky about where my ingredients are sourced, and I could not find a definitive answer about this lanolin. I found the company’s website and sent them an email asking where the lanolin is sourced. I had an answer quite literally in minutes informing me that it comes from New Zealand. I have never had a company reply to any inquiry that fast! I was beyond impressed! Well done :) ... show more
