I loved the idea of a plain black dress that I could doll up with whatever accessories I wanted for different looks. I absolutely love that it's got pockets, but unfortunately, some of the basic construction elements of this dress make it very unflattering. For starters, It's bigger than I expected. The material is pretty thick and kind of heavy too, so it drapes in an odd way. I thought it might look better with a belt, since it was a little large, but the pockets are sewn right along the natural waist. As a result, adding a belt limits access to the pockets, and makes my hips look absolutely gigantic (which could be a pro for some people). I don't know how a plain black dress made me look so much wider than I am, but it did.... I also don't find the neckline to be particularly flattering one way or another. It might look better on a slimmer body type, but as someone who usually wears a size 6-10, I'm not a fan.

This dress was originally purchased for my wife to wear inside the house. I expected it to look like a bag, but it didn't. It was a very nice-looking dress and the seam came just under the bustline so it was very flattering. She decided to wear it outside confidently and received several compliments on it. This is a lot of dress and it looks very good with boots on and a scarf. Very comfortable.

I don't know that it's so much the dress or my body type but it looks very much potato sackish. The color is nice, just like the photos, but the dress itself is very baggy and unflattering. I know that maxi dresses are usually roomy but this is roomy in all the wrong ways. I love the top portion as it's snug, fits my chest/shoulders/arms perfectly, but after that it just billows out but not in a pretty flowy kind of way like in the photos. It just goes straight down then poofs out a little more towards the bottom. Length wise, I'm 5'5" and it's about the length as it is on the model in the photos, maybe an inch or so longer. Wanted to love it so I'd be confident wearing it for our Christmas family photos but I'm worried that I'll look pregnant (I'm not) or just ... bad? I do think this would look adorable on a pregnant person of that counts for anything.
