If you want that fitted look then keep your size or size up one size and get it tailored. It is kind of short but that can be because I’m 5’9.5” so it can be just right for anyone shorter than me. I got this dress to celebrate my birthday. It is form fitting, moderately stretchy, soft and comfortable. It isn't tight, which I really enjoyed. I got it in a 1X. I'm 5'6, 280 lbs, curvy (with all the trimmings). The dress was a nice length. It would ride up when I would walk, but never too much where I felt like I was gon' Brittany Spears anyone. This is a great holiday staple. Personally I think velvet never goes out of style when worn for the holidays. It happens to be on trend this year. I believe it is generously sized. I typically wear an XL in dresses. Size 10-12. I am 5”6 about 190. Very curvy but Proportionate. I purchased both large and XL……for a more bodycon fit and firmer fit, I would go with the Large because of the ruching. It helps camouflage the belly as well. This has a lot of stretch so size down 1 size if you want to look like the model with a tighter fit. I will say this. I did find some irregularities. I ordered this dress in a Couple of sizes and colors. None of them fit the same. The first one came with shoulder pads. The rest of them did not. Some of them had a seam sewn in the middle of the waist (right where the ruching is). It looked very odd. The chest area is off a little. If you have bigger boobs it may not line up properly. All that being said…….I would recommend this dress because it is a solid buy, but like most of “made in china” clothes…..please inspect them. ... show more
