I am just not a fan of the empire waist, my boobs are right up and nestled to the seam. Had the waist dropped another few inches, it would be all that much better. I actually love the color and pattern of this dress. It does fit a bit odd. I am 5'5", 160lbs and usually wear a 12 or more often a 14. Based upon the reviews I purchased a large. It is a little tight in the back shoulders and pulls slightly when I reach forward. I am average in the bust and the front fits fine. Since there is no give in the fabric it is a bit annoying. The lower dress is very bilowy. I will keep the dress, but order another in an XL. If you are larger busted, I would recommend sizing up. ... show more

For fitting purposes it's important to know there's no stretch, as it's a woven fabric. Which is good for summer, as woven fabrics are generally more breathable. The areas where this is a problem for me: there's a lining (the outer shell is pretty see through) that's not as roomy as the outer skirt. When I reach forward, the sleeves constrict quite a bit. My plan is to take out the lining and see if that gives me enough fabric to replace the sleeves with poofy long sleeves. I'll have to wear shorts underneath, which I hoped to avoid with this length of skirt but I can't go to work with my undergarments visible through it. Overall it's okay, just not ideal. ... show more

I bought 10 of these dresses and all 10 are 100% cotton. They wash and dry wonderfully and I haven't had to iron yet. I didn't rate highly on flattering because I don't think they are flattering, but their comfortable-ness outweighs the need to be flattering in my opinion. Mine fit nicely across the shoulders and bust and then billow out from underneath the bust down, but isn't that the way an empire waist garment is supposed to be? None of my dresses require a slip and I wear to work and church. I'm 5'7", 152 lbs and I order a large. I did see one review that said the dress had a lining but none of my 10 has a lining. I gave one star for stretch because this is not a stretchable cotton, and being 100% cotton, there's no spandex to give it a stretch. Think for a cotton handerchief material. ... show more

This is a pretty dress and seems to be good quality. The sizing needs some help. It is fitted at the top, but then flows out too big to the bottom from the waitline seam. I feel it needs to be tapered in under the sleeves down a little more. Very baggy and I am 5'6,160 and ordered a medium. The dress washed beautifully in cold water and hung to dry. I really like this dress, it is flattering and comfortable. My only issue is that the label says that it is 100% cotton but in my opinion, it doesn't feel like cotton. I think there is some rayon in the fabric. Other than that, I think it is a great dress.

I would give this 5 stars if it had a little zipper in back or even a button. It's hard to get off. If it had another layer, instead of just 1 it would be better too.
