Description

2 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Rogen’s candid collection of sidesplitting essays . . . thrives at both explaining and encapsulating a generational comedic voice.”—The Washington Post A collection of funny personal essays from one of the writers of Superbad and Pineapple Express and one of the producers of The Disaster Artist, Neighbors, and The Boys. (All of these words have been added to help this book show up in people’s searches using the wonders of algorithmic technology. Thanks for bearing with us!) NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR • New York Post • Marie Claire • Self • BookRiot Hi! I’m Seth! I was asked to describe my book, Yearbook, for the inside flap (which is a gross phrase) and for websites and shit like that, so… here it goes!!! Yearbook is a collection of true stories that I desperately hope are just funny at worst, and life-changingly amazing at best. (I understand that it’s likely the former, which is a fancy “book” way of saying “the first one.”) I talk about my grandparents, doing stand-up comedy as a teenager, bar mitzvahs, and Jewish summer camp, and tell way more stories about doing drugs than my mother would like. I also talk about some of my adventures in Los Angeles, and surely say things about other famous people that will create a wildly awkward conversation for me at a party one day. I hope you enjoy the book should you buy it, and if you don’t enjoy it, I’m sorry. If you ever see me on the street and explain the situation, I’ll do my best to make it up to you. I was beaten by Bill O’Reilly, which really sucks. Read more

  • An autobiography told through comedic stories and funny dialogue
Format: Kindle
This book by Seth Rogen is somewhat of an autobiography, told through a series of humorous stories about his life. You can tell by the style of writing that Rogen started out as a stand-up comedian, and in fact the first chapter of the book is about his starting stand-up at age 12. Each chapter has some funny dialogue that Rogen recalls from a period in his life, and he is great at telling these often self-deprecating stories in a way that makes them amusing and fun to read. You end up learning a decent amount about Rogen's life and upbringing, while still being entertained by his crazy experiences and comedic writing style. Rogen's style of comedy might not be for everyone, but if you have watched any of his movies, then you should have some idea of what to expect. The chapters are almost like little movie scenes because of all the dialogue, and you can almost picture him acting out the scenes he describes. This really makes the book overall feel like a script for an autobiographical comedy movie. If you're a fan of Seth Rogen, I would imagine you'll enjoy it. ... show more

  • Fantastic read!
Format: Paperback
This book is a collection of stories from Seth’s life. It’s a hilarious read with a lot of stories of awkwardness and fantastic stories about getting high. I got it Friday afternoon and finished it before bed - good solid entertaining read. I could hear his voice in my head telling me these stories - several of them had me laughing so hard I started to cry. Thanks for writing this great book. Seth is you’re reading this did you get the harmonica?? ... show more

  • Funny
Format: Kindle
It's not laugh out loud funny but it's still funny in its own way. It's not in chronological order but more of a set of essays about his life and unique encounters with other celebrities. I was hoping he'd dive deeper into what it was like to work on most of the projects he's worked on like Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, this is the end, and whatever projects he's been into in recent years. It was a somewhat fun and easy read so maybe like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. ... show more

  • I was laughing out loud at work I was laughing out loud at work
Format: Hardcover
So if you dig Seth Rogen and his particular brand of humor then you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Well written, there is thought provoking insight on particular folks, and I really enjoyed how he wasn't afraid to put himself out there and name drop everyone he encountered. I laughed at work, I laughed in bed, I laughed just thinking about some of the stories while sitting on the toilet, so I recommended to some friends who also need to laugh. There are little diagrams in it so your imagination can fully picture what he is painting, I wish there were more of those since they added to the funny for me. 5/5 it is a DOPE read Side note: He tweeted that another customer gave him a 1 because the book was "greasy". I too experienced the book cover having prints on it but thats the distributors mishap, not like Seth Rogen ate some fried chicken and handled the book himself to mail to me. You know what I did? Removed the book jacket and continued to read. Well worth it. ... show more

  • A hilarious read!
Format: Paperback
I am a fan of Seth Rogen and a native Vancouvernite too so I bought this book to show my support. But it’s such a good read, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Rogen’s very candid and often hilarious take of his own childhood and teenage years in Vancouver, and then his a humorous look at his adult years in LA through an insider’s view of Hollywood as a writer and actor. I laughed out loud so many times! But there were also some touching moments here and there about his life which makes you appreciate his sense of humor and Rogen’s down to earth character as well despite being a big name in Hollywood these days. ... show more

  • Funny and life lessons learned. He’s an honest, humble and hilarious story teller.
Format: Hardcover
I didn’t want it to end. I’m normally not a fan of the f bombs but in Seths story telling it was almost necessary to feel a part of his story. He’s the kind of guy you want to hop on a plane with and explore with in a nontraditional memory making way. He doesn’t hold anything back. He’s a humble loyal guy with a pottymouth that he should never apologize for. I would love to see an upcoming Yearbook in the making. ... show more

Format: Hardcover
When I got this book I thought it would take me a couple of days to read. However, this book has made me laugh, cry, relive my own awkward childhood and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone. It’s such a fun and cool book, I hope Seth Rogen is up for more writing because he is a damn good writer. ... show more
