Our HOA has a shade sail over the Kid Pool. Sail is fairly easy to take down using the turnbuckle but is a bear to put up. Got this on Amazon and attached the hoist pulley this morning. My helper and I said Wow together. This hoist system makes taking down and putting up the 10' x 10' shade sail a breeze - one person can now do it where before it would take two strong individuals to get it up. I bought this to help move large bulky items into my attic. It does work fairly well for this. However, the rope included is only good for about 10 feet. The weight/pull reduction of the system works well, but the quality of the rope and length are questionable at best. The rope that came with my unit is not very solid, has bumps where the rope itself is flawed and definitely not long enough. I mounted a 2x6 across 2 attic rafters over the opening down into the garage. With the rope switched down to 3 pulleys it was still about 4 feet short of where I needed it to be. The rope also does not feel nor look to be all that safe or sturdy. While the pulley system is rated for 4000 pounds I would question if the rope itself would be safe at half of that. The straps though appear to be quite good for what they are designed for. It will work perfectly for what I intended it once I replace the rope with a longer and better quality item.

One of the best purchases I've made. Lifts up to a ton. Lifted a 120 lb. box easily with little effort. Compact, comes with a storage bag and has about 50 feet of rope, so you can lift a long distance. Straps are narrow enough to fit under any lift object, and more than strong enough One reason I bought it was it's compactness. small, easy to store- which mattered because I was working in a restricted place. Definitely worth the money.

The container I used this on was 420 lbs. Although it di lift it with only one person the two complaints I have are first, the rope is two small in diameter. I believe it should have been at least a 3/8s rope. This is small and hard to work with. I used the provided loop straps included to tie into the rope and pulled with it like a handle. Not recommended for everyday use. The second complaint is the length of the tail end of the rope after beginning to pull. It's like 30 ish feet to gain 8 feet of life. Not the end if the world but if you are holding the rope you can't let go easily to grab more because of the sizing of the rope.

These are simple to use and for the cost cannot be beat. I needed something to lift boxes overhead, and these fit the bill. They are no frills, but that is what I wanted as I use them 2 times a year. The pully ratio is such that it makes easy work to lift about 300 pounds (using 2). I definitely would buy again.

The unit is thin and flimsy, but that's not the worst thing out of the box. The cordage supplied with this is elastic, loosely woven yarn that stretches almost twice the length. Elastic cordage in a block and tackle is dangerous no matter the price. As you pull to lift the load, all your purchase length is taken up just stretching the cord, no movement to the load. By the time you have it taught, there's no room left. If you try to space it out farther, you have to fight the cord (rubber band) and keep it that way just to start your lift. Elastic means there's no relationship between pull and lift, not 5x as claimed, no relationship. It's a toy being sold as a tool, somebody's likely to get hurt or already has. See the disclaimer for any injuries resulting from its use, there's a reason for that.
