I am not an expert on wooden urns for ashes so I have no basis of comparison. I think the overall appear is classy. The quality of construction feels average. Not flimsy but not super strong either. If you need a "high class" feel, I am not sure this wooden urn is it but I am fine with it. The one thing I want to point out that confused me is the sliding bottom. With this sliding bottom, you have to have your ashes in another container, bag, or storage medium because there is no way to get the ashes into the box without it. I just cannot see anyone tipping this urn upside down to pour ashes in, then slide the bottom in, and then turn it upright without ashes leaking out. To me, this is very strange but it could be my own ignorance about these things.

The quality is much better than expected. My mom died in January after losing her battle with stage four cancer, and I was put in charge of handling her estate, as well as her ashes. The cremation company put her ashes into a black plastic box, which I find very offensive. This wooden box, which is quite large, represents a resting place for the majority of her ashes. I know she would have loved it, and my family is getting some peace out of her resting place being more beautiful. It comes with a velvet liner and bag for the ashes, along with a screw and screwdriver to fix it in place. This is a good product; I recommend it.

First issue is that this box is flawed. All four corners of the top are badly scuffed so that the light colored wood shows through the dark stain. And there is a bad scratched area that stands out on one of the sides, plus numerous little nicks that can be seen. Other issue is that there is a screw hole on the bottom lid/cover, but no corresponding hole drilled into the base, and no screw provided, so that you cannot actually secure the base to the box if you wanted to 'seal' it. Also, the design I ordered was a cross. I was sent the tree of life design instead. It is a nice design, but I already have one in a tree of life design, so that is why I wanted the cross instead.

The wooden urn I received is darker than photos, which suits me just fine. The color is uniform. Has a nice weight to it. The price is so reasonable compared to funeral home. The cross is only on front, if you prefer a more simple look. The box is elegant yet simple. It's pretty perfect.

This is nicely made and looks just as pictured and described but I do have one issue. The box has a siding bottom section for opening and closing as well as locking it using a screw. There is a pre-drilled hole on the side that sides in and out for the screw but not on the side of the box where the screw needs to go into a bit. I’m afraid this could cause the side of the wood there to split when a screw is put it. I’m going to have to see if my neighbor has a small drill bit to make a hole for the screw to go into. I don’t want to take any chances. There is a small Phillips head screwdriver included but no screw. I hope to find one that is the correct size to secure this. This also includes 4 stick on felt pads to place on the bottom as well as a nice velvet drawstring bag that is lined with a silky material for storing should you choose. The inside is lined with a velvet material and seems to be glued in but appears it’s done nicely. All in all this is a nice box and the carving on the front is very pretty. I like the dark stain this has as well. I just wish there was a drilled hole where the screw needs to go and that a screw was included. *UPDATE: I just noticed in the listing photos that there doesn’t appear to be a pre-drilled hole in the box where the bottom tip of a screw would need to go. I didn’t notice that when I requested this but I’m hoping this is a change that is made so people don’t have to worry about the wood splitting when they place a screw in to secure this.

We got this to store our recently passed mother's ashes. It is contemporary, and beautifully styled. It is well built with tight joints. The laser engraving is beautiful. The solid wood has a great grain and it is stained a lovely color. Pictures are a accurate representation of what you will get. A single screw securely holds in a sliding door on the bottom. They even include a small screwdriver and felt pads.
