This is a very nice wood carved Urn for ashes. It has two lovely poems/words on the top and front. No typos. It even brought tears to my Mom's eyes 12 years later (my Dad has been in the original cardboard box in the closet for 12 years). We had no idea you could find an Urn on Amazon. And we are pleasantly surprised at the quality of this one. It is real wood. You can even see the unvarnished wood grains where it is carved out. It smells like wood. The opening is bigger than it looks in the listing. My Dad was a large man and I was worried that his bag of ashes would not fit in without opening it and putting it in a different bag. But there was plenty of room. He weighed over 300lb when he died I am sure (he was larger but had lost about 100lb due to cancer that we did not even know he had). We DID take out some ashes to spread on different beaches, but there are plenty left in the bag as you can see. There is so much room left in the box that I out in his dogs ashes (he loved that dog) as you can see in the pic with two bags...one large and one smaller. And I would not be surprised if maybe my Mother's ashes might fit in there when the time comes. So I would say that this is accurately described in that it would hold ashes of someone weighing 280lbs. Maybe even a larger person. Also, as you can see, there is a little magnet that holds the picture door closed and that is separate from the way you get to the ashes. You have to unscrew 4 screws to get to where the ashes go inside the actual box. So no worries about ashes falling out when changing the picture or moving it around. I am very happy with this. And I am glad we can finally get Dad out of the cardboard box and off the shelf in the closet.

When I opened the boxes to get at the urn I was impressed, until I opened the door and the bottom pin for the hinged fell out. I put it back together, and put just a dab of Gorilla Glue on the bottom hinge to hold the pin in place. Other than that it looks beautiful. Worth the price for your loved ones.

The front door, hinged on the left, is held close by a small magnet. Behind that door is a black panel secured by 4 screws. Once the screws are removed, it is a bit difficult to take off that panel to put the ashes inside, although you won’t really have to do that more than once. The overall EXTERIOR dimensions of MY box, including the base and top, are 11" wide x 6 5/8” deep x 7 15/16” high. The INTERIOR dimensions of MY box are 8 7/8” wide x 4 1/8” deep x 6 5/8” high. Everything about this box is superior with the small exception of the photo frame opening, mine is 5 7/8” wide x 3 15/16” high. Yes, it allows you to place a 6" x 4" photo behind that frame, but there is no glass or clear plastic window to hold the photo in place. But, I am going to easily insert my own plastic “window” to hold the photo in place. I feel that this box is so superior that I am going to order another one for myself.

This cremation urn arrived with a broken corner. I was going to return it, but decided to keep it because the rest of it was beautiful. The dark, brown finish is truly beautiful. The etchings in the urn are lovely. The tree is actually etched on the top of the urn, which I prefer. It’s because of this that the damaged corner is not so noticeable. You are too busy looking at the rest of the urn. This is the perfect urn for which my loved one will rest in.

I requested this for my aunt's ashes. She died recently and my mother had her remains cremated. When I brought this to my mother, she cried, saying it was just so beautiful. The urn is a lovely stained pine, stained to look as though it's redwood or another dark reddish wood. The front opens to reveal the urn chamber behind a panel that screws into the urn. On the front panel is a spot to place a photograph of your loved one. The top has the tree and message etched out of the stained area. While that makes a lovely contrast, I'm a bit concerned about it staying nice, so I suggest getting a spray bottle of Deft or another wood sealer and give it a quick coat or two of the sealer for both the top and the painted front of the urn. The Deft or other wood sealer will seal the design, making it easy to clean and keep the design from chipping or discoloring. I would recommend this urn to anyone who's lost a loved one and had their remains cremated. It's a lovely tribute that will turn into a family heirloom, helping the family keep the loved one's memory alive for generations.

Our urn arrived with cracks and dings. The tree engraving is actually on the top of the box, not the back. We quite liked that the tree was on top. It fits quite a lot of ashes. Definitely worked for us for 220lbs of cremated remains. We were able to order a replacement easily which didn't have the same issues, but it does seem that this is made from pretty soft wood

This is a very beautiful, well made urn. It includes two lovely remembrance poems that are beautifully etched, as well as a tree of life, butterflies, and birds. It's a good sized urn. I love that we can put a picture of our loved one on the outside of the urn to make it more personal.
