The beech wood makes for a bat with a nice amount of heft and PLENTY of strength. It has a satisfying grip and great balance, making for an easy and solid swing. I ordered this 29 Inch 27 Oz Wood Baseball Bat to use for transitioning my grandkids (5 and 7 years old) from T-ball (with plastic balls) to real baseball. The bat is solid, and nicely balanced with a smooth glossy finish. I recommend wrapping the bat handle with bat tape, to improve the grip. The size and weight are good for a 7 year old - but a bit too heavy for my 5 year old grandson. Overall, a nice bat to practice and improve batting skills. Two thumbs up. ... show more

To paraphrase Mitch Hedberg, I’m not an athlete. If I had athlete’s foot my first thought would be “that’s not my foot!” I got this for personal protection in case someone breaks into my house. It’s nice and sturdy but not too heavy. I hope I won’t need it but I’ve been meaning to get a bat for a while and like that this has a simple, natural appearance Pro tip: put a sock on the end of the bat. If someone tries to grab the bat they’ll just end up with a sock in their hand and you’ll still have the bat. ... show more

I'm not a fan of guns but a good solid bat can be an excellent home defense tool. This is light enough and short enough to operate comfortably inside a house. Keep it close at hand near your bed so you don't have to go searching for it if something happens during the night. Can be used for thrusting strikes to the chest or head. Always good to go for a quick swing to the shins first since the intruder cannot reach low enough to block it. After the shins a swat to the noggin should take the fight out of them. ... show more
