UPDATED REVIEW: I officially have a Wrangler obsession. I got the Ember color, still in size 28 but 34 length (it's longer than my standard 32 inch, but better looking with my cowboy boots). These might be my favorite jeans I've ever had. They fit like a dream, they're the perfect medium blue wash, and they are super, super flattering. I'm an athletic 5'6" and 152 lbs and normally wear a size 8 in most things. I still love the Isla wash for when I want a dark blue, but these Embers are my new favorite color, fit, and length. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Based on the reviews, I ordered one size down (waist 28 like a size 6 instead of my usual 29, size 8), and the fit is absolutely perfect. I LOVE these jeans so much. They're my new favorite. So comfortable right away and the high waist is very flattering on my long torso. They also look great with my tall cowboy boots, but note that the calf on these jeans is a narrow bootcut, so boots fit nicely still, but you definitely see where they end at the top in your jean leg. I don't mind that at all, but if you like a wider boot cut at the bottom so it doesn't show at all where your boots end, you may not like these. ... show more

These jeans fit amazing. They are the perfect high waist and look great with a shirt tucked in. These are the 34 inseam. I am little under 5’4”. Just enough length to wear boots and not have high waters. They are comfortable to sit in all day as well. I have not rode in them, but would definitely think they would be perfect all day, the high waist sits up enough and they don’t fall down, especially in the back. This particular Jean is less stretchy, which is what I want. They feel like real jeans, not the Lycra stretchy jeans. They are very durable and are definitely rip resistance due to the higher quality cotton. I have a lighter color pair that are the same material and I wear the heck out of them. They’ve held up all year with wearing them constantly. Please don’t judge my bad mirror picture, it was all I had of these. ... show more

    • Durable jeans that hold up great for rodeo work

These are some of my favorite jeans to wear. I work in the rodeo industry, so I need jeans that can hold up to long days and tough conditions, and these have been perfect. The high-rise waist is a must for me and these fit really well. They are very durable, even with how often I’m kneeling or sitting in the dirt at rodeos. Love the thickness of the denim and the wearability...but ordered 33x36 and one pair is about an inch too long and the other is over 3 inches too long!!! better than too short...I am 5'8" and 180 pounds...so the overall fit was really good except for the differences in length.

    • Inconsistently Made/Poor Quality
Size: 27W x 32L Color: Ember
Wrangler has always made my favorite jeans, but the Retro are inconsistently made. The seams lay straight on some, but not others. The waist sizing, rise, ankle width, and length are also inconsistent. I had a great experience with what I purchased in-store, but all three jeans I ordered via Amazon have issues. None of the three are the same, yet all are sized the same and are only supposed to have varying colors. I bought a Mary, Isla, and Amber. The Amber wore holes quickly, Mary broke zipper teeth, the second day of wear, and the Isla has uneven material on both sides and in the inseam. One rivet has also been missing off the back, right pocket since the day of delivery. This has been my worst experience with Wrangler and if it was my first, I would not purchase their products again. I sent the Mary back immediately after the zipper broke and am now sending the Isla back because they are not comfortable. I was going to overlook the rivet, but it's not worth it since they were so poorly sewn. I'd send the Amber back, but since they have holes after only a few uses, I don't think they're returnable. Another issue I had was upon needing to return the Mary jeans, I mistakingly selected Isla because the coloring is almost identical. I was unaware, until I was alerted that I still needed to return them. After looking into it, I discovered they refunded the Isla and Mary, and that I need to send the Isla back too. If the company didn't label them as different colors when they look so similar, I would've selected to correct jeans. It was nearly impossible to tell and the pictures were no help. I tried for several minutes, trying to determine which was the correct jeans to select that I was returning because there was no label on the packaging and the tags in the pants do not show the name/type either. I planned to keep the Isla jeans and deal with the uncomfortable wear from the irregular material and missing rivet, but because I cannot make them work comfortably, I decided to seize the opportunity and send them back anyway. ... show more

I bought two pairs of these. One light and one dark. Same size (33x32). The light pair came first. Great fit. Dark pair came. At least two inches longer than the light pair. How? Why? So frustrating. Of course I didn't realize until I had the tags off. I'll have to roll them to wear them. Aside from that, they're great jeans. Comfy for all day wear. ... show more
