I have a 1986 Sea Ray Seville, Mercruiser 3.0 engine with the Alpha One outdrive. After several outings on the lake, I found it annoying to have to constantly stand up or kneel on the seat in order to have better vision ahead of the boat. I purchased this 13” pedestal to replace the current 7” that I had and it made a world of difference! No longer do I have to fight constantly to see over the windshield when the boat is planing. Note: the pedestal comes with a warning sticker that says speeds should not exceed mph.... Trust me the welds are sturdy and the tubing thick you will have no problem running this on a ski/wakeboard boat. The last picture shows my knee placement & spacing with the higher seat. The steering wheel is fairly low relative to my body, but unfortunately that cannot be adjusted. For reference, I am 6’2” about 185lbs. ... show more

Works perfect for me SeaEagle Foldcat. This is a 7 inch....I ordered another brand that was 6 3/8 inch, which didn't fit the quick release mount that came with my Foldcat. Amazon refunded me and I reordered this one....thanks.

    • How long will it last? Un-Wise!!
I bought two of these for my older (1976?) 18' boat that gets used to tow the (adult) kids around on skis, a wake-board, and a tube. I was pressed for time and noticed they would arrive in time for the big summer vacation trip. After I installed them and was out on the water, I noticed there's a sticker on them stating "not for use at speeds exceeding 5 MPH". What?!? Umm, any boat with more than a trolling motor will exceed 5 MPH! So I'm supposed to tell my gang to stand up and just hang on to the side of the boat until it comes to a complete stop?!? Way to build a product CHINA! Well the seat posts survived a week of water-sports, but I did grab a seat and wiggled it after I noticed that tag and observed that these new bases are definitely not as firm as the still-intact Attwood ones that I had previously purchased from Wal-Mart. The metal is definitely thinner and they are not as strong. If I leave them out in the boat and exposed to the elements for a few years, I'm pretty sure I will be replacing them very soon! ... show more

I bought this pedestal not for a seat but for mounting a fish finder on the front of my boat up closer to me in my seat so I could view it better. A square piece of polypropylene or plywood makes a nice adapter to the base of the fish finder and the top of this pedestal. It is quite a bit more budget friendly than mounts made for that purpose and very sturdy! Be innovative, think outside the box! ... show more
